I agree! This site is great. Facebook is a little too "big brotherish" for something like this :)
Love what you've done here...thanks!!!

just wondering if there was a way to search for a member by name like a search box instead of fishing through all the pictures to find someone:)

I'd also like to search by something other than the name... for instance, put in "Maryland," and it would pull up people in my state.

Yes, I was wondering something along the same lines. It would be great if you could put in your city, state or zipcode and find others that are in your area for fellowship purposes.

Hey Jon - HELP!!!

This forum has grown by leaps and bounds, to several hundred members! This is good, and this is bad!

As it is, given the only available settings, EVERY time someone posts in one of the threads in which I've participated, I get an email telling me so.

This means that I get dozens and dozens of notification emails... and it takes time to open each one, link to the site, and see whether or not I've previously read that post (due to a previous, duplicating post).

On other forums I'm on, each thread sends out only ONE notification, even if there are 1-25 individual posts on that thread.

Can that be done here as well? (and am I making sense?)

IOW, let's say that, in my absence, there are 10 posts on the "What is Simple Church" thread. Rather than getting ten individual notifications in my inbox (one per post), I would get only one post (for the first one), and I could then read ALL of the successive posts after that first notified one.

PLEASE -- I'm absolutely swamped with emails at this point, and when I went away for a few days, I returned to hundreds of posts from this site alone....!

Mercy, mercy, mercy!!! :)

Hey, Dena! I know you are asking for a Daily Digest email, but in the meantime, if you unclick the "Follow" button at the bottom of the threads you are posting on, you won't get all the emails :) You'll just have to do a visual check for new posts while on the site. I can only imagine how many emails you must have received...I am only "following" one thread and I've gotten a LOT!

Well, not quite the "daily digest" of Yahoo groups (I'm on several of those), but more of what other discussion forums actually do -- only the first new post in each thread that one is following becomes a notification ... though there may be numerous posts that follow the initial one.

I'd like the email notification (I forget where to go look...!), but not EVERY single stinkin' notification of EVERY post...!

(Pssst, Jon -- talk to Paul Byerly about how he's able to do this on TMB!)

I agree. I do have some privacy concerns. Would love teens to create a group and be able to interact, however seems the site is too wide open to outsiders.

That being said, this site has been invaluable to us in this last week as we have exited the IC and began our simple journey. The positive support & resources has been wonderful!

The best thing though is there are no yucky banner ads like on myspace. Facebook is okay but I am loving this site!

This is the draw of it for me: the commonality.

I, too, am a member elsewhere . . .but in the "room" with me can be nine hundred other ideals. Here, the ideal is at least narrowed down. :D It gives me a greater expression and freedom of thought/speech, knowing I'm not going to have to lay a foundation (once again) to support my premise before my idea can be heard.

Dena,

Sorry for the tardiness in my reply. I agree with you that would be a nice feature. Ning (the platform we're using) is working on this and many other features) and I understand it'll be available shortly (not sure if that's weeks or months). One thing you might try doing is using an RSS reader to monitor the threads instead of email.

How was the hunting and where did you go?

Hey Keith,

Had a great time hunting. Didn't bring anything home...but we were close to lots of Elk. We were hunting north west of Steamboat Springs.

Thanks for asking.
