I wonder what happened to all the baals that are spoken about in the Old Testament. Apart from a few mentions in the NT they are no longer fashionable.

OR ARE THEY?

So how do we discern baal in the modern day?

In the OT the Israelites frequently incurred God's wroth because they considered themselves worshippers of the God of Israel, but they also offered worship at the altars of baal (and ashtoreth etc.)

Baal is just a word for "master" or "Lord", and can refer to various deities, but in the biblical context it was usually an agricultural and fertility deity.

I personally believe that Baal is very much a driving force in society and church, but would like your thoughts.

In fact 19 Dec 2009, the date of this posting, is perhaps quite significant in the world of BAAL worship!!!!
