Frank, Great Vision.  I love when Father does that.  I think the tactics of the enemy are often to wear us down anyway he can do it.  Way to act on the vision.  Thanks for your post.

Be very careful with this topic. Anyone who tells you they have a vision for you or a dream for you most likely they are a false prophet. When I was involved with charismatic Christian early in my Christian growth I would fall for these false prophets that would tell me that God told them to tell me something or that I was supposed to do something and every time I ended up feeling like a fool. The bible is full of warnings about such things.

Matthew 7:15   Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 
Matthew 24:11   And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 
Matthew 24:24   For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Luke 6:26   Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. 
2 Peter 2:1   But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 
1 John 4:1   Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

 

You see when someone has a word of knowledge for you or a vision or dream for you then it must be back up by scriptures otherwise it is false. But visions are not always prophetic most if not all missionaries have visions. Church planters have visions. How can one start a work without a vision answer is they can not. Visions are very important but when used for the purpose of GOD. Dreams well they might be were we get inspired to go out to do a work for GOD. Like if some one has a dream of giving the Gospel in some far of place then I would believe it was from GOD bur why would they need to share it with anyone other than the people in his church because they are the once who will support him in fulfilling that dream. I mean to say like a calling.

Romans 16:26   But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

What is our purpose to teach people in the world about JESUS and to teach new Christian how to teach others about JESUS so would it not make since that true visions and dreams would be for that purpose. I am just saying that not to attack anyone but what are the purpose of dreams and visions if not that.

1 Corinthians 9:16   For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:17   For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. 1 Corinthians 9:18   What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:19   For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

The Gospel is the good news of Christ and how we might be saved. But so many naive Christians are carried away, by nonsense and un profitable things that are not of GOD.

Ephesians 4:13   Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Ephesians 4:14   That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:15   But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

You must test the spirit of anyone who tells you of there dreams and visions and most importantly beware and if you are a new Christian run if they say they have a dram or a vision for you. Test what they say with the bible most importance read your bible and learn it so you can discern.  

2 Timothy 3:5   Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:6   For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 2 Timothy 3:7   Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Remember prophets speak the word of GOD there for if they give you are prophesy ask them for a chapter and verse, that is what I do and it most of the time will quite the false prophets up.

I think you are right on.  I think it is important to be in relationship with people who say they have dreams or visions for me.  If I do not know the person, I weigh it and measure it differently than one who I have a relationship with.  Either way I look at it, I take it to Father and Holy Spirit and I have great discussion over any word I am given.  I think that is why He likes to make sure I get words, so we can discuss them.  He just likes relationship.  I love dreams and visions, because I believe Father is speaking today to us through them.  I think Acts 2 and Joel 2 are quite clear on that.  

I am sorry you had such a difficult time when you were in the Charismatic church.  I know everyone wants their two cents worth in places like that, often controlling others so they feel important.  That is difficult to watch.  It is a good thing you had the maturity to see through it.  We make so many mistakes, and then we experience grace, which is wonderful.

I do have something I am thinking on however, I believe the Good News - the Gospel is about bringing people into the Kingdom of God.  Jesus is the way into the Kingdom.  It is from there that Salvation becomes so huge.  I live with Jesus in me and as a result I see the Kingdom come to earth.  I want people to be saved, and I want to see the church set free to be all they can be on this earth.  I do not enjoy watching Christians believing all they have is a miserable salvation, that they must fight their way through in order to be saved another day.  I love the fruit of the Spirit.  I love the Love of God.  I find when I focus on the things Paul discussed in Phil 4:8 life is so much better:  

 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

I find it sad that most Christians dismiss dreams and visions as dangerous deception.
These negative thinkers invariably insist that if the word or dream is from God, then we must be able to find it in the bible, otherwise it is total deception. Such talk, in itself, is total unbiblical nonsense.

Yes, if we are teaching doctrine from a dream, or vision, such cross reference with the bible is great wisdom. However most dreams and visions which I, and many others have received, have little to do with doctrine. My dreams and visions are usually quite mundane, but extremely helpful and frequently of considerable financial benefit to me, or to those who the word is for.

Many words I have received from the Lord, have been to do with normal life, or work.

God gave me a vision for starting a totally new, untried type of business, which became a major success copied later by loads of others.
I tried to find it in the bible and failed miserably!

Decades ago, God showed me (a total ignoramus about law and finance) in a dream how to do a particular real estate transaction which was causing us problems. The lawyers had never heard of this procedure, but said they could make any transaction legal, so I gave them the go-ahead. The couple of weeks later I saw in a newspaper, an announcement from the financial industry that this self same new financial process was going to be launched by all the mortgage companies ! God led me there first.
I looked for it in the bible but still couldn't find it?

In my manufacturing plant we were plagued by 2 identical and critical final assembly machines which regularly went wrong, requiring difficult repairs and lost production. These machines were costed at about £15,000 each to replace and we had no possibility of such investment.The maintenance staff, this particular time, were on holiday and the foreman, hit by yet another breakdown was panicking about deadlines. I felt a peace from God, and told him to just use the single machine that was working. He was clearly annoyed at my lack of action but went back to work.
The next morning, with an, "I told you so," look in his eyes, he came barging into my office to announce that the second machine had now given up the ghost!
So, I reluctantly put on my overalls, rolled up my sleeves, and headed into the workshop. I was just starting to dismantle the first offending machine, when God clearly whispered, "I did not call you to do this"! I halted.
Perplexed at these words, I went back into my office and contemplated God's words about the machines.
And, no, I still could not find anything about these machines in my bible!

Sure enough, the foreman came in frantically and asked what was going on. I told him to let peace be the rule of his heart, because God was going to show me what to do. He threw his hands in the air, shook his head and went out. Production started to bottleneck. Everyone nagged at me.
Next day he came back even more frantic about the state of production. Again I told him that the peace of God was the rule over our production. He was a church going christian, but he had no idea of the walk of the Spirit. I was clearly a fruitcake in his, and the workers eyes. However I had the most amazing peace over the whole problem.
Yet, I still couldn't find any evidence in the bible!

Saturday came, and I had occasion to go into work to collect something. I was crossing the workshop floor, my mind entirely on what I needed to collect for home, when I saw a clear and open daytime vision.

I saw a strange shaped piece of steel. Within me, instantly, was the necessary revelation about what this piece of metal was for. It was a new component that God had designed, and was directing me to manufacture, to add to the machine's workings. I absolutely knew that making this device would totally change the operational nature of the machine, and totally bypass the parts which constantly failed. Boy was I excited!
I again searched for it in the bible without any success!

I obviously soon lost track of my original purpose at work that morning and set out to make this steel component. About 2 hours later I had done it, and bolted it on. At this point, I had not touched the broken parts, they were still within the workings of the machine. I switched the machine into operation. It instantly worked far better than it had ever done since we had inherited it with the company.
There was a basic design fault which had led to the regular disintegration of inner parts. Now these inner parts were redundant, replaced by a bit of God's special creativity!

The operators were delighted on Monday, the machine was far easier to use and it never misfired as it had previously. Productivity soon caught up.
Our maintenance engineer came back from holiday a week later, saw the repair and burst out laughing. He then set out to do the exact same job on the second machine.
At some point a long time later, we opened the machines and threw away the redundant original parts. The machines got an extra 12 years of life before they had to be finally replaced.
I still didn't find anything about it in the bible!

I have lost track of how many hundreds of times God has whispered vital secrets in my ear about my business life. He has rescued me from total disaster on numerous occasions.

And yes, he has also saved my life from a serious road crash.
As I was driving fast along a country lane at night, I heard, ever so quietly, an urgent whisper from the lover of my soul and my savour.
"PULL BACK, pull back, pull back."
I was behind a long line of traffic moving in excess of 60mph when I heard this. I was instantly very alert, and taking my foot off, let my speed dropright down, whilst carefully scouring the rainy night ahead. About 10 seconds later a monster black figure leapt out of the side and right across the front of the car. I skidded but hit it with an almighty bang throwing it right up the front over the screen and over the roof. Dazed, and shaking, we got out to see what we had hit and what was the damage.

The monster shape turned out to be a totally black cow, out of a herd of coloured cattle, it had burst through the hedge just as I was passing. Bellowing with indignation, the animal heaved itself up and ran down the road making a terrible noise, followed by the rest of the herd which had followed it through the flattened wire fence and hedge.
If I had ignored the whisper, and struck the animal doing my original speed, it would have certainly been the very bloody end of me. The car was covered with mud and grit scratches from the animal, all over the front, the windscreen, and part of the roof, showing clearly how far past the centreline of the car it was when we impacted. The damage amazingly was limited to a passenger door window, an expensive mirror moulding and a thorough valeting, all via the insurance of course. I spoke to the farmer the next day, and he got the vet out to check. Neither could believe the story, as they could find no visible damage to the animal. However there were many witnesses to the event.

It was, and still is, my choice to believe that God whispers to me, even if others think I am deluded.

The Lord later showed me that this was a massive demonic attack on our lives. I totally believe that the cow was goaded by demons just at the point we were passing. We regularly made this route, there and back, to a Christian businessmen's meeting, and Satan hated what we were doing.

Now, I can certainly find in my bible that Satan is a murderer from the beginning, however it still says nothing about motor cars.

I fail to comprehend why Christians are so fearful of learning to listen to the Spirit. My whole life is lived like this. I don't always get it right, but I am on a major learning curve with God and loving every minute of it. The thought of losing that fellowship is truly frightening indeed,

"If anyone has an ear let him hear."

IT IS TOTALLY OUR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO DEVELOP A LISTENING HEART.
It is not that God does not speak to most people, it is that the saints are taught NOT TO LISTEN, by those who should know better.

I love your examples of Father's intervention in your life. My sister told me last Thursday that the two CT scans and the doctors said she had colon cancer. I said within my spirit, I don't think so. I asked lots of people to pray. To hear Father on it all. So much prayer. Yesterday they gave her a clean bill of health. Is that cool or what. My father was healed of Emphysema 2 years ago. God is so good. I love focusing on the wonders of who he is.

I do not dismiss dreams and visions but it is and area that demands carefulness and a topic for those with enough maturity to discern. Babes in Christ have to be very even more careful. Did not the Mormon religion start with an man with dreams and visions. We have to test every thing with the bible.

I have seen a lot of weird stuff in my early Christian life. I seem people on all fours roaring like lions and cats and barking like dogs and saying that it was the Holy Spirit. Yes even seen people who claim to be drunk in the spirit to where they ask me to be there sober driver not a joke that happened for real. I was scared an if not for the bible I would a backslidden for good. I have had Christian give me bad advice saying it was from GOD and it was not. We have to be careful on this topic and that is said with love. I say it because I do not want my brothers and sisters hurt by being caught up in silliness from un clean spirits. Because I love my brothers and sisters.  

I get from your post no love for me in there at all. But I love you Frank and sorry if my warning offended you. You said "Such talk, in itself, is total unbiblical nonsense". I need to remind you that I used scripture to say what i said and you did not. I also think that is false and not spoken in love, but I forgive you. I know most of your post was not directed at me.  

I have had dreams giving to be by GOD I believe but will not post them because they are personal and with my poor writing skills it would not be ok.

 The bible is full of warning about this topic so to say it is unbiblical to warn people is _________ you fill in the blank. I have had to swallow my pride on this very site for things I said are you man enough to do so, I hope so. Some times us Christian men can get carried away with our biblical knowledge and flexing it like men at a gym. It is just how us men are I served with the marines so I would know.  Us men act like we are super Christian on this post I am just as guilty as you. I love you brother and you can believe that. I was upset when I first read your post but you are my brother.

Matthew 5:23   Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;  Matthew 5:24   Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

I have studied theology so I know things biblical but not everything. I have experiences you do not. But I am sure that I can learn from you as well. So lets forgive one and other and move on as friends because we are brothers and I am sure GOD wants us too. I am on your side and our enemy is out there so lets fight the good fight and not each other ok brother.

Maybe I misspoke when I said. “Be very careful with this topic. Anyone who tells you they have a vision for you or a dream for you most likely they are a false prophet”. In the place were I live they may be more crazy Christian types perhaps the altitude who know but were you are it may not be most. This was written from my prospective and maybe different for you. Just be very careful false prophets are many. I have a neighbor who would tell me false things saying they were from GOD; He has a mental illness now and has not been outside his house for a long time. But not all who have visions or dreams are false. You must study your bible so you can discern. Anyone who has been a Christian for a few years has to admit they have seen or heard things that make them wonder.

 

Visions and dreams are when they are real are to Further the Kingdom. Are number one priority as Christians is to reach the lost and dyeing word. People are going Hell if we sit around doing nothing. Do you love people enough to share the wonderful gift with them. To open your bible and point the way to salvation. Do your visions and dreams lead to that goal. That one guy who link to his video about the future in a star wars type image he is write on the future. Well we do not know the future be we know JESUS will be there like he is here now. I think his dream was biblical but I hope JESUS returns sooner than that.

It was precisely that original statement which bothered me, because I believe it has no biblical basis other than just fear. Thanks for your response, and I am sorry if you were offended at my repost.

And yes I agree that there is much foolishness and ignorance in the church regarding "spiritual" happenings. However, the worst thing we can do is to reject them all. It are the very basis of everything WE should be doing as spiritual people. Our calling should be to GROW UP in these things, not run away in fear.

The church is so panic stricken at any form of spiritual happening that they immediately fall into two camps.

1) The pathetic fools who ignorantly eat and drink every last drop of it, as from Christ, no matter how demonic it obviously is. They have no clue about discernment.

2) The pathetic fools who ignorantly reject every last drop of it, as from Satan, no matter how Godly it obviously is. They also have no clue about discernment!

However to move onwards. What did Jesus say about such things.

There are two ways we can hear and see things. One is with our natural senses, the other is with our spiritual senses.
This is because we are a "spirit" man as well as a "flesh" man.

When Jesus said, "he who has ears to hear let him hear" he was NOT talking about our natural "flesh" ears. (or eyes)

Matt 16.v13Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the SON OF MAN is?” 14And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” 15He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the SON OF THE LIVING GOD.” 17And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because FLESH AND BLOOD did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Take note, Jesus says to Simon, "FLESH AND BLOOD did not reveal this to you."
(ie. Reveal that the Son of Man was actually the Son of God)
What does this mean?
What or who is this "flesh and blood" that Jesus refers to?

The answer is in plain language, flesh and blood, is humanity, INCLUDING THE FLESH AND BLOOD PERSON, THAT IS JESUS HIMSELF.
Nothing of his flesh and blood revealed what was truly hidden in Jesus. Not even Jesus himself. It was the Father in heaven who revealed the Son of God.

Never forget, that other prophets had also done mighty miracles!

Now if the Father revealed the character of Jesus, how did he do it?
The answer is, as always, via the realm of the Spirit!
Peter knew who Jesus was, via the Father's word spoken, via the realm of the Spirit. HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR LET HIM HEAR. And Peter will never hear if Peter sticks to fleshly ears because Peter's flesh ears are deaf to the Spirit.

Peter's fleshly hearing returned in force a few moments later when he denied what Jesus was saying about his imminent death. Peter had better plans! This is so like the church, we have better plans than God!

Returning to the realm of dreams and visions. Yes, there is the danger of deception, but there is no more deception from dreams and visions than there is from plain old false biblical teaching which has emanated from theologians all over the world for the last two thousand years! Far far more deception has come from false bible teaching than ever came from rare dreams and visions!

We each and every one of us starts our spiritual journey as a visionary!

EVERYONE WHO COMES TO CHRIST, COMES BECAUSE THEY HEAR WITHIN THEIR SPIRIT MAN, AND NOT THEIR FLESH MAN.
Yes, it may well be that someone "bible bashes" them, but the conviction comes within their heart, not their brain.

They are convicted within, in their spirit, in their conscience.

They then come to church, and sadly, they are then intellectualised into a christian form of knowledge based religion and so called spiritual behaviour, which has nothing to do with the Spirit of Christ! Yet it has the immense power of shutting heaven up and replacing it with a fake called the church.
Woe unto you Scribes, Pharisees, (pastors teachers etc) hypocrites, you shut up heaven. You neither enter yourselves, and you make sure that those who are trying are prevented.
This is true of the church system today. It shuts heaven and replaces it with church activity. Anyone who experiences some heavenly breakthrough is condemned and hounded, and never ever reaches a maturity before he either gives up or leaves the church. In the past they would be burned at the stake!

Until the church wakes up and grows up in discernment regarding dreams and visions from their spirit man, it will always be on the back foot, it will always be impoverished and powerless.

 

I would greatly encourage every believer to keep a note pad beside their bed. Pray every night, and ask God to speak in dreams and visions to them. Every morning at the point of waking, search your hearts for the dreams before they disappear.

WRITE THEM DOWN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember the parable of the sower.

Satan has the power to snatch away that which is sown in our hearts. It is much harder when it is down on paper.

This tells God that you value his direct whisper.

Seek wisdom on what you dream, sure, not all will be from the Lord, but this is a learning curve as you grow in discernment.

Take risks in God.

Do the same with visions and other spiritual thoughts.

Take risks and grow.

Dispose of fear, and let Jesus take your hand on a journey of adventure.

I only miss spoke when I said the word "MOST" and you never addressed that you said my warning was unbiblical. Perhaps it is your pride or you just forgot. But it is most from my experience and my experience is not rare I do not live in a bubble. I am a taxi driver so I meet lots of people every day. I meet all type of Christians. I met people who claim to be prophets many of which are mentally ill some are just got up in some. There are Christian that are in tight Christians communities and in there experiences they do not have the same interrections with other Christian as I do. Many of my friends who are in house churches are that way, those churches are very good at protecting their flock until there maturity level is enough to discern. The only time they interact with Christians outside there circle is at tea party events or shooting events. That is where I have met the most house church Christians.

 

I do not fear the things in your post because I have wisdom and a good biblical teaching. I can discern but as I remember back in my early Christian life I could not. I once fell for ever whim of doctrine even many of the wacky charamatic/pentacoastal views. So I did not write this out of any my fear but out of fear for others. I do not want young naive believers to fall for those traps. Satan is cunning and he wants to get. When I was a newer Christians I did fear things because I did not know any better.

I remember once bring an unsaved friend to a church and when they broke out in glossia not sure of the spelling they call it tongues but using the word tongues in and incorrect tern for that  But Glossia was were they would make noises and verbal sounds with no meaning. But my friend fled that church an as far as I know that old friend never got saved. He died in a motor cycle crash in 2002. So was that of GOD if the behavior in that church scared a lost soul away. I am not saying whether glossia is of GOD or not. I will not argue that right now at all. The point is when we get into this super Spirituality stuff and it is not used to lead people to salvation there is no profit in it for GOD. So there for there is no profit in it for me. If these things are real then I would experiences it them. I am just as filled with the Holy Spirit as any other Christian. I was filled with the Holy Spirit the day I excepted JESUS into my heart and repented of my sins. I know this because my dyslexia disappears when I read a King James Bible. That is the only version that seems to do that for me. I struggle reading every thing else including other versions of the bible. Strange I know but studding the bible profits the kingdom so that is why.

The pathetic fools, I do not like your choice of words. Babes in Christ are not pathetic fools to me, Christians that come from easy believes churches are not pathetic fools to me. The Teaching in so many churches are so week that Christian do not grow enough to discern things like you and I can. We have experience and good teachers that help us but not all Christian are that lucky these days. That is another reason for my warning. Another way to put it so many churches only milk feed there flock. The mega churches never want to feed there flock the meat of the gospel because they might offend  someone and the will get less tythe money.

Matthew 5:22   But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

The word RACA means pathetic fool. So be careful. I know you were generalizing and not calling any certain person that.

Mormon claim to have the gifts of the spirit. They speak in glossia and have visions and dreams, they even have prophets. And how does the Mormons and JW’s grow by prying on naive Christians that do not understand enough to discern.  They are not The pathetic fools, they are lost sheep who have had bad pastors.

Galatians 1:8   But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
