Derek that is all fine and good but were is the scriptures to back up What you said. Do you speak for GOD. You said "Being 'judgmental' is about sin, and worthiness in the eyes of God" That is a pretty bold statement more like a commandment so wither it is true or not you nor me can speak for GOD so were is it in the bible that being judgmental is a sin.
The very word (judgmental) never appears in my bible once; It does talk about by the same level of judgments you judge others you well be judge.
Matthew 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
The bible says to judge them it says not to judge and I believe that is because by what and for what are we judging and has nothing to do with being judgmental or not. We need to judge righteously and according to GOD's word and nothing else.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Jesus is a judge and some might say judgmental yet Jesus is with out sin. I do not go around making judgments against people and I am not advocating that as you might be suggesting. Because I know no reason you made your post but to suggest that. Jesus told us in his word, by the way the entire bible is Jesus’ word. John 1:1.
I try very hard not to judge people on there out ward appearance an even more so for lost people. People who are still in sin meaning that they are unsaved or lost what ever term you want to refer to such people. They are not living according to GOD’s standard and will not judge them other than to tell them about Jesus. But I will not let a bum or some pervert into my home with my wife and kids would I. I would not let a pedophile baby-sit but that would make me judgmental and it would be a sin according to your bible but not mine.
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
We do judge we can’t help but to judge people. But we need to see people though GOD’s eyes. There was an old preacher called Billy Sunday, Lived a while back but someone ask him why he preached the way he did and he opened his curtain of his hotel window and said with tears in his eyes, he pionted to the people below and said "they are all going to hell". Do you see lost people like that to you judge people that way. I only wish I did. I fail to judge people righteously because I fail to have a the right amount of enthusiasm to reach lost souls for Christ.
Every one you meet that is not repent of there sins is going to HELL and will stand before judgment before the thrown of GOD. and when they look at you and say why did you not tell me, will you just shrug your shoulders and sigh well at least I was not judgmental.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
What is sin by the way? I could tell you what I think but if I ever point out what is sin then I am speaking for GOD and I do not GOD speaks for him self in the bible. I know most of the I.C.’s today you get one or two scriptures then a 40 minute lecture that may or may not refer to those verses at all. But her is what sin is: James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. That is what Jesus says sin is. What a wonderful definition and what a great verse to memorize don’t you think? It is not a sin to be judgmental if we judge righteously. If we judge according to standards we our selves don’t even keep then that is sin maybe that is what you really meant I will give you the benefit of that.
I know that the very topic of Judging and judgment is such a tricky topic. One thing for sure is we ought to keep or opinions out of this one as much as possible. I think that there is a fine line between righteous judgment and our own judgment so I think we ought to ask our self is it out of the flesh we are judging or out of the spirit.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
I would post all of Romans 8 but it would take a lot of room but I ask you to please read ALL OF ROMANS 8 before you answer this post please.
If you search the bible for all the references to judge, judgment or judging you might get confused because the bible says not to judge them it says to judge so I think you have to understand what Jesus meant in Romans 8 when he inspired Paul to right that. Are we judging according to the flesh or the Spirit.
James 4:11&12
11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Derek
James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Our bibles do not really say the same thing do they.
In English Brethren means neither male nor female and in this case it refers to a body of believers. A lot of preacher they to refer to the Greek so they can twist the meaning but I know it is not true in your case because you live in Greece. I am a strong believer that you do not need to know Greek, Hebrew or Aramaic to understand GOD’s word. GOD speaks to us though his word.
I am glad you are using scriptures in your post. There is power in the word of GOD our words are just words.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Galatians 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
You might get the idea that I do not know much because of my spelling and syntax errors. But I have dyslexia very strongly. I was trained in theology in an unaffiliated Baptist Church. One of my main objectives here is to get Christians to start using there bibles more and there opinions less. I got you to use scriptures didn’t I.
I failed GOD because of my pride and react the ministry in southeast Asia were GOD had intended me to go (long story). I am trying to rebuild but it is harder now. I believe house churches are the future but if they are just as much caught up in easy believism like the I.C’s then there is no future for Christians in this country. United States supports more missionaries world wide than any other place in the world, I would hate to lose that.
