Matthew 23:28
Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Many people call themselves Christians, saying they believe in God, but aren't willing to act like they do. They say one thing but there actions show the opposite. This is one of the main reasons people don't want to be a Christian because of hypocrites. You should do what you say because saying you're a Christian and not living by it is pointless and disgrace to religion. Have integrity because actions speak louder then words. People listen to actions more than words.

What exactly do you mean by this?

How do you think Christians fail in what they show to the world at large?

Not trying to be awkward, but I am just not clear what you think constitutes suitable behaviour, behaviour which would attract non believers rather than repel them.

The problem with the scripture you quote is that it says that they DID LOOK RIGHTEOUS to the world, but you are accusing christians who DON'T LOOK RIGHTEOUS ENOUGH to the world?

Religion is surely the root of the problem, but you said-

"because saying you're a Christian and not living by it is pointless and disgrace to religion."

Do you advocate religion then?

I believe that the christian religion has given Jesus a bad name, but what you say here confuses me, please can you clarify what you mean.

People have sincere moments wherein they are "willing to act like they do". Do they have the power/strength to carry forward?  Most do not. Alternatively, we are encouraged/invited to receive the power (from above).

Acts 1:8; Romans 9:17; I Corinthians 2:3-5; II Corinthians 4:7; 12:9; 13:4; Ephesians 3:14-21; Colossians 1:9-17; 1:28-29; I Thessalonians 1:5; II Timothy 3:5; II Peter 1:3-4

Even when people try to be Christians by their best efforts, most will soon come to "say one thing but there actions show the opposite." It is easy to maintain some denial surrounding this, even as we don't see most people up close for long.

Amen and Amen to that brother. Short and to the piont. Wow I only wish I could make a piont like you do. Great post and so true.

Matthew 23:28   Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

I have to agree with Frank here....Religion is surely the root of this problem....

We are not to judge another mans heart.tho..(Matt. 7) we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12)....What was grace and mercy for...if we are not to extend it ourselves?...I have a dear friend who loves the Lord...but struggles with a past of abuse and alcohol..which affects her life...I encourage and pray for her...that she might be able to stand...Love covers a multitude of sins... I also have a son who struggles...when I was IN Religion..I judged him ..preached at him...drove him farther away...When I came to understand our Fathers grace and mercy...I was born again...AGAIN!...and seen the damage I was doing...I have now learned to accept my son, faults and all...by loving him in spite of what I see...We are now closer then we have ever been....and he is more open now to HEAR the word of the Lord...along with many others I have encounterd since getting free from Religion...

Yes, people in the world will judge others they see doing wrong in their eyes...they did this to Jesus

The Body of Christ tho.., by the pointing of the finger is what destroys the body...the world dont have to do it...we wound our own...by Religious acts.

I do understand what you are saying when you talk of people "going to church"..and then living anyway they want outside the box...this is Religion.....and the Lord rebuked this...but, If you are IN Relationship with our Lord, your heart will be trying hard to please Him.

We all have a broken limb somewhere..thats why we needed the cross.

Thank you Lord,

Sista Sandy :)
