Dear friends,
I have pondered this question for many years, and finally got to put my thoughts down. You can read them here: http://noconversion.wordpress.com/2009/11/19/what-is-my-culture-now/

Please feel free to post comments/questions on the blog or here.

Excellent, Ranjeet!

I especially liked this paragraph:

It was very clear in my mind that I have not changed my religion from being a Hindu to being a Christian. In fact, I have abandoned my previous religion and have just followed the Jesus Christ. I have not become a Christian, but I have a relationship with Jesus Christ now! And this distinction was important for me because a Christian religion that was, and still is, present in my time that had a culture of its own.

I agree that Jesus never intended us to "become a Christian" ... but to be called out of all religions, into a Relationship with God (He came to show us the Father).

There are a myriad of ways in which Christianity has utterly missed His point, and rendered His teachings moot.

I discovered that I had to leave Christianity in order to follow Christ ...

Would you like to post your response to the blog as well - it would be read by others who are not on SC.
Truly appreciate it.

Sure thing - I'd be happy to do so.
What an incredible piece of penned thought!
You are so right about all the 'trappings' that seem to be attached to "being a christian". I really wish that there was a more realistic, descriptive word we could use for our conversion, redemption and dedication of "our lives and our fortunes" to the Lamb of the One True Self-Existent God (Yahshuahn or Emmanuelian?).

CULTURE:
If culture is to be attached to the function of a follower of Yahshuah (Jesus) the Messiah, perhaps it is as simple as study and implementation of the relationship that Jesus the Christ always wanted for us with Abba God the Father. A lifetime spent on this pursuit would seem to be a lifetime of incremental, incredible success.

MISSIONARY:
If missional focus is to be incorporated into the culture of a 'Yahshuahn' (follower of Yahshuah Jesus), perhaps simply sharing our past history of disobedient, our miraculous moment of redemption through the blood of The Lamb, and how we plan to obey the commands He gave us with any one who is willing to listen and learn, is us being real missionaries.

These are just questions that keep me up at night, not a statement of opinion. I am not a source of answers, just questions and past experience that may or may not be helpful. I will continue to look, also, for the best answers to the cultural and missional questions from the Source of all answers.

May God, the Source of all that exists, richly bless you with just what He knows you need most!

I wonder what a culture of Jesus Christ looks like that has only this at its core: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like it: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ This is what the Law and the Prophets really mean.

My culture is Jesus Christ. What about yours?

Loved this Ranjeet...excellent post! Be Blessed on your journey!

Well said, with the possible addition of "Seek you first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness..." and "make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you..." as the missional part of the culture of Yahshuah Jesus our Messiah?

Thanks, Phil and Mellanie.
In old English (King James..?) the word "conversation" meant lifestyle. I would use that word when decsribing my "new" life. If you look at it, what is our walk with Jesus most of the times? It is our ongoing conversation with Him.There is no set prayer time - it is ongoing; there is no set worship - it is ongoing..and so on. Of course, the set times are important and I have found them to be immensely valuable too, however they should be sprinkled around our conversation with the Lord and not just only those times.

Phil, would you mind posting your comments also on the blog? I haven't yet figured out how to link my blog so comments here can be posted there too. Facebook has such an application..:-) A side question - is there a SC community on FB?

The response on SC for this post has been very encouraging - and I hope this post gets shared more freely. Also, if you want to read the previous posts and add comments on the blog, please do that too.
