Hi there -

I am interested to know what sort of size "simple church" is for folks here.

I have been part of a 2 or 3 and sometimes more for several years - we havnt tried to make it "church" in some ways realising that in reality of course it is essentially ecclisia.

We are growing connections and perhaps need to start to be prepared for a fresh slightly different way of working things out.

happy to discuss more

I see from another post that you describe yourself as a small group of intercessors.

I suppose we might call ourselves a smaller group of spiritual life pioneers.

I am wondering wether we are to diversify into providing a more generic simple church environment as well as maintain a focus for spiritual breakthrough.

I would expect there to be some overlap.

Hello Dave and may the Lord bless you and yours abundantly.

We are a small group of three ladies and two men including myself. At the moment we do not envisage a larger group and the Lord has also given one of us a word saying as much. He gave one of us a word a few years ago or so saying He was preparing many small groups throughout the nation to get ready for His work. The key word here is 'small.'

Sure William

The focus of the gathering I am in has been personal spiritual renewal and growth and because there is just a few of us and we have taken that journey together and I believe there are purposes beyond this for us, I am weighing / offering up how this could develop for others we may yet connect with.

Some I know would get a spiritual chill about any sort of connection with "church" - others will struggle if theres not some sort of "covering".

I can also see that there is a networking of individuals and small groups going on - where again we are not all singing from the same hymn book on every level - even on how to do what we are doing.

I am not expecting quick answers - may well be that we keep in the flow of what we are doing and things will become clearer.

Just wondering how it is out there for others - ultimately we all have to really know Gods leading.

grace and peace

I would like to pass this on to my fellow prayers but I don't think they would understand it! Could you clarify please so I can understand it too?

Hi Dave...

What can I say, it's sunny, hot, you have the freedom to speak Gods wherever you are...it's good. So you thinking 'then why are you in England?' One word answer brother 'obedience'. I was prophesied over a few years ago, and more recently God spoke to me about returning here ..and I listened, so here we are. It is my wife and I here, my son is in London and my daughter went back to SA for a year, will be back next year. So Dave ..where do you fit into the 'simplechurch?' and what do you do?

Blessings
Hi Duncan

Simple church could be the a natural fit for me if the little "home group" that I have been joined with develops numerically. How we do church isnt the main thing for me its whats really going on in and through our lives so I am not a "simple church" evangelist - more important to be lead by the Spirit than any formula .

The home group is committed and benifitting from what we do , the focus being actually seeking God and discovering what His Kingdom is and how that works in us and for us.

I also "newtwork" with groups somwhere between "church" and "simple church" - again its being open and resposive to God Himself that for me is the "first thing".

Another outworking may be a "school of the spirit" format - or a Kingdom revival centre - or whatever ?

I had some positive contact with a SA group called Harvester International - Andrei Pellser etc - have you come across them?

every blessing

Hi there Dave

Yes Andre moved much in the Prophetic, I believe had a Bible School for those believing they had a Prophetic calling on there lives.
Hi

Andrei certainly gave me the most significant word I have ever had (from another person).

He is very much into their version of Apostolic Reformation - which I dont buy into as is - but I do respect some of what I have seen in them.

It looked for a time we would get closer but the main contact in the UK for us wanted a clear commitment to that vison rather than a convergence including our own.

still all things can work together for good

Yes, sorry you are right, he had a Bible school' for those moving in the Apostolic, not the Prophetic. He used the title of Apostle.
I believe as we network as a 'body', being the Body of Christ we will hear what God is doing throughout His Kingdom, and God can use others to move us/plant a seed/encourage us and enspire us. As Ralph Neighbour says in his books on the cell groups etc...''this is what God is doing here with us and I want to share it with you. Take from it / adapt it to your cicumstances/culture, use what you can and leave the rest. It is what God is doing here''. So yes, we may have a vision, we may have a mission statement..whatever, but we must never walk around with 'ear-plugs and blinkers' on. We can learn from what God has Blessed others with, take from them, Pray over/about it and if it will benefit our ministry/group/church use it. What is of God is good, Hallelujah. Closer to home, I am excited about what God is doing here, but I am more excited about what He is still going to do. He (God) is busy, He is on the move...we have to be 'in tune' and move with Him.
