Introductions- Introduce yourself!

I'm Laura, based in Surrey, UK. I'm married to Kumar. We started our young lives as 'missionaries'. Kumar, saved as a child in Malaysia, kept trying to have a 'normal' life but God shut doors and he started his adult life church planting in Malaysia with a 'seasoned' missionary, followed by YWAM. I was saved at 16, and very early on went to Hong Kong. I spent just over 2 years in a wonderful teaching missionary community run by my lovely spiritual parents Paul and Bunty Collins, and the lovely China missionaries, Cyril and Gabrielle Thomas. The years in HK were full of really interesting 'connecting' and experiences which set the foundation for the years ahead. Married to Kumar 1986, moved to UK 1989.

Here we became 'normal' i.e. not church workers of any description. We attended a lovely fellowship for some years but God led us out in the early/mid 90s to pursue deeper where He wanted to take us. This has not been geographical travelling but into more organic ways of 'being' light and salt in our town, 'being' church in a unique way for our environment. We very soon came across the works of Frank Viola and Gene Edwards which spoke into our journey.

We have 'simply lived' with all its challenges, 'being' who we are in Christ: we are humans : ), disciples, spouses, parents, friends, colleagues and Kumar is a pastor/teacher, me a teacher/pastor, we don't 'do' these ministries, we just 'are' them in every day life. We love the Lord and we love people. And we are always open to learning how to walk more closely with the Lord; how to enter more into His visions and purposes.

Thanks so much to the precious Dales, whose parents/grandparents were some of my earliest contacts in Hong Kong, for this site. I am 'here' in 'SimpleChurch.com for the purpose that I believe the Lord has a corporate dream as well as an individual one for us all

Hi everyone

not sure if people are still using the group...

but, we're in Aldershot, Hampshire. Have been exploring different ways of being church for about 4 years. haven't been 'going' anywhere but feel part of the body locally through community projects and one off meetings. There are a few of us sharing life together most of us were part of a congregation in Farnham of which we closed the 'institution' of in 2007.

Be interested to hear from anyone locally whos walking a similar journey,

Hi Gemma, tried to write on your page but unable to.  Its true that I rarely come on here.  We are still in Guildford.  Still living simply.  We currently have no 'group' going, but are standing with believers who are going through hellish circumstances and are friends with a number of unbelievers that God has brought into our lives for His purposes. we are also working on a wonderful short term bible school 'School of the Shepherds' for those called to be shepherds.  We are thinking of a one-off gathering at some point soon to encourage and strengthen one another.

We meet with a couple of other families between Oundle (Northamptonshire/Cambridgeshire border) and Bedford. So, if there is anyone in the vicinity, then it would be good to hear from you. As many others, we have been very much influenced by Frank Viola, Gene Edwards and others, and are waiting to see what God might do with us...

Hi I am June, married to Jim, living in Tyne and Wear, been on a journey for about 7 years or so, gone through some hard times with that as many of you will have.  We have renewed passion of simple church, and would certainly like to hear from anyone who has the same vision, but definitely anyone from our area. We have trained at Kingdom Faith Bible College, specifically the Way of The Spirit, teachers courses. We are waiting on God for the next step

Hello,  I'm Ruth.  With my husband Paul, we run a house-church in Bromsgrove,  near Worcester.   We have only just begun as an independent house-church, having previously run house-groups within a local church we attended.  

We are connecting with local church ministers and local house-churches, as we believe in one church, one kingdom, and that we need to be advancing the kingdom together, and encouraging and helping one another in the task of bringing people to Jesus.    We are involved in missions in Kenya and Uganda, prophetic ministry and also training.  See website for more details:   www.kingdomrestorationchurch.com
