Here is a new discussion topic for you all:  what do you see as the goals and purposes of your simple church?  (not simple church in general, but what would you like to see happen in the specific group you meet with?)

Hi Bill,
It's interesting to me that you ask this question just as I am reading a book, 'The Five Most Important Questions You Will Ever Ask About Your Organization'. I believe the Lord is telling me it is time to re-evaluate/review where our ministry is, where it is going and to look at where it has been (both effective and ineffective) and how it has changed.
The first question in the book is, "What is our mission?" The book says this needs to be a sentence that would fit on a tee shirt.
We defined our mission and have reviewed and redefined it as it has grown and matured. Now it is time for a re-visit.
After re-considering it, a draft sentence for our ministry is, "Under the guidance and revelation, strength and power of the Lord, Release The Spirit helps His children to heal and mature spiritually, emotionally and mentally."
OK, I know, that would have to go on an extra, extra, extra large tee shirt. It is early and I am working on it. I am also expecting to get my wife's input, she is pondering it. This is a work in process.
Forerunner, I like what you said about your ministry. It's obvious that it is important for each ministry to clearly define its own mission statement to capture, in brief, what it is about. This is a square against which to gauge the minstry's plans and actions.
Thanks again Bill for a great question.
Blessings to all,
Jim Stow
In our group here in Arlington what I would like to see is strong relationships being formed where people feel safe to be real with one another. I would also like to see Jesus being formed in the corporate body where each person expresses a different gift or aspect of Christ. Paul said he labored in prayer that "Christ would be formed in you." I think he meant a plural you there - in other words, it takes the whole Body to express Christ. So that's my desire for our group: that together we would express the wise, pure, compassionate, powerful, healing, serving, faithful, joyful, nature of Christ!!
True Bryon. Probably a reflection of the fact that not many people come to our DFW group site...

Wow, really not much discussion about goals and purpose, huh?
