We do people a great injustice by letting them become dependent on events and good meetings or weekly services, I am not saying these are not often powerful and even helpful, but are they all we should be doing? Are they the foundation of how we should build? We have almost completely lost a generation, and have at best an infant level Christianity in this nation. So many are stuck in this trap.It may seem good, but is it Gods plan?
Just going to a "church" service every week is not what true biblical discipleship is. It takes one on one relationships with those taught and matured in the word of God. Jesus was personal with each even though He poured into twelve. He said "go make disciples", not just converts. It is a shame that most reading this probably do not even really know hat a disciple is. I will deal with that more in my videos or a later post.
I see this now more clearly than ever. When we make true learned, mature disciples, they go and reproduce the same. It goes like this. Elders in the kingdom (biblical fathers of fathers, and mothers of mothers) produce elders. Biblical fathers and mothers produce mature adult fathers and mothers. Mature young adults produce mature young adults. Infants (entry level converts) can win/produce infants. For instance if you have immature young adults raising other immature young adults, you will never have mature fathers and mothers. If you have fathers and mothers with no elders, you will never produce elders.
I am seeing fantastic growth first in people and then in numbers like never before. If you are trying to woo in the people and keep them entertained so you can have numbers then stay away from true discipleship. You may even have powerful life changing meetings, and these are very needed. However if you want to change the world and see the real Christianity rise up, then you are going to have to take time to take people through sound biblical foundational discipleship. This then requires getting personal and dealing with life issues. If we are unwilling to do this then my question is this. Which way are we going? The American way, or the bible way?

Permalink Reply by Marshall Diakon on May 26, 2012 at 6:46am events & programs are activity opted when the power & directive of the Holy Spirit is not truly welcome. Often there becomes a "back door" rationale for orchestrated operations or performances, such as pointing to things (seemingly) good as an outcome of the particular event or activity, and sometimes with a token acknowledgement of God's hand. Of truth, nothing actually happens without the supervision & interaction of Almighty God. In this way of man's mind, events & programs shanghai His participation viz-a-viz results-oriented goals. Even relationship building is now undertaken as a program with acronyms! It is the pathetic work of human engineering at attempts to build something of an altar to God that is incomplete & loathed by Him.
The simple church that has come to abandon church "service" can consequently be released for the Spirit of Christ to bring genuine function to & among their ekklesia with Him. Soon in our days, the systems of religion will launch more attempts to re-label their "services", as will continue to come forward so much mimicry... Even so, those led by God, walking in the Spirit, can settle for nothing less than Christ alone: the Genuine representative of the Father.
Let's not forget that it is the Father through the Son who is raising us up; He has not left us as orphans to raise up one another. Years ago, the shepherding movement moved on the assumption that God was neglecting His parental responsibilities. Not true! The role of "spiritual fathers" is in reflecting His paternal care --- not substituting Him. Yes, it does seem all too easy for even a well-intentioned nanny or sibling to assume too much upon themselves and fall into conflict with the Head of Household.
If you are truly seeing fantastic growth in numbers, you may need to double check what is actually occurring around you? The door is narrow/cramped that leads to life. Sometimes crowds attempt to rush the Gate, or climb the wall, but only then to miss Christ crucified: the Only Source for truly life changing. Meetings or excitement can produce temporary alterations, at best. Christ is the only Way to Life.
