Whether we call them stories or personal narratives or testimonies, how important do you think it is for people to learn to tell others what God has done and is doing in their lives? Is it enough to talk about the past, or should we also be able to recognize what God is doing now?

Since I asked the question, I'll start. I think telling our stories are very important for at least two reasons: 1) our conduct or way of life is a method of teaching, and 2) our stories provoke others to trust God and to serve him and others. I think it is good to talk about what God has done in the past - as a reminder or a comfort - but we should also be looking for and sharing what God is currently doing in our lives. In fact, one of my favorite questions to ask people is, "What is God doing in your life right now?"
