Hey Central FL'ers,
Blessings from the simple churchers of Sarasota/Bradenton! I sense the desire to network and that's what I do over here with 2-3 groups. Keeping it loose and connected in the Father through the Spirit so the Body of Christ is in solidarity!

Does anyone know of an organic church event in Orlando Florida in July?

Hi to everyone. I just joined this forum and now the Central Florida list. We are over in the Space Coast area of Brevard County.

Is anyone else attending the Organic Church Conference in Orlando this July 16-19? My dh and I are registered and I'd love to connect with ones attending. We're brand new to all of this except for what the Holy Spirit has been teaching us for years.

Aliza, my family is located in Sanford, Florida. We did get the invitation to Frank's conference in Orlando this July, but I don't think we will be able to attend. We are currently meeting with some other people in the area about starting a Simple Church network, and what that looks like. I was also recently introduced to the I Am Second small groups in the Dallas, TX area, they are looking to launch in Central Florida soon as well. They actually use the House2House materials in their "How to start a group" info. You can find out more about them here: http://iamsecond.com

Thanks Jonathan. It seems there aren't many around who've found this forum. We're just new at all this and it certainly seems like a weakness is the ability to find networking connections. We're praying for the Holy Spirit to locate people near us but so far that hasn't happened.

Aliza, we had been praying for the same thing for quite some time, and even thought the prayer had been answered when we had multiple Christian families who we had started meeting with. Then God moved those families away!

After spending more time in prayer, we are now convinced that God is telling us that he doesn't want us to JUST find other Christian friends and families from around town that we can meet with every week to "have church", but instead wants us to "bloom where we are planted" and reach our neighborhood.

We have started reading "Like Your Neighbor?: Doing Everyday Evangelism On Common Ground" by Stephen W. Sorenson and ordered "The Rabbit and the Elephant". We are now focusing on developing relationships with our neighbors and letting God show us how to be the Church on our street through back yard Bible clubs, block parties, neighborhood watch, etc.

We are learning that there is nothing wrong with meeting together with other Christian families, as long as we are not neglecting the first priority that God called us to, and that is to reach the lost. As we focus on reaching our neighborhood, God is bringing the other Christian families into our lives for the fellowship, edification and support we need.

Hello everyone. We are new to the forum and would love to find more like minded individuals. My family and I have been meeting with a group of people for close to a year now in a informal home church setting but we have loved it. I wish we had done it sooner. We are in Brevard County and would love to contact others in the area. Hope to hear from you soon.

Greetings, Janice, from us here in Indian Harbour Beach.

So great to hear that more is going on in Brevard. Is your group in the Cocoa area? Tomorrow night we've been invited to attend a group in the Suntree/Viera area. I love the idea of staying connected to other groups that are relatively close, and that includes Sanford as well. It's interesting that last June when we still lived in Illinois and we were praying about where to move to in FL the two areas we felt led to visit were Brevard County and Sanford!

Jonathan, we've done a bit of what you are saying--being the Church where we live. A few years ago that would have been termed "market-place ministry" which basically says your ministry is where you live, work, shop, attend school etc. At least the team I was involved with at the time (Tampa Bay area) viewed it that way.

Right now, for us, we're planted beachside which does open us up to a different set of people. We've just taken in the second person now since we moved here last Labor Day. This young man was sleeping on the beach and wandered into a local church where my dh was practicing for a community play. We've enjoyed helping him with finding Jesus in a more personal way and he joins us for worship, prayer, praise and such. Whether or not we will be more successful in helping him find more permanent stability than the first young man remains to be seen. But we're just obedient to the piece Jesus has given us to do.

At Christmas time we had a party for all our neighbors and a small group has grown out of that but it's just Christians and they all attend one church, unfortunately, so I'm not sure if that's the right group to grow for how we currently view things since their focus is towards their own local church..

I'm looking forward to the July conference and perhaps meeting up with some more like-minded people. When I attend something like this I view it as a huge success if even one thing gives me an a-ha moment through the Spirit blessing the circumstances.

Be blessed,
Aliza

So I have heard a lot of people mention a conferance in Orlando. Could I get some more details about this and find out if there is a web sight? Thanks all!
