I am a PhD student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am a web developer and an adjunct professor of Greek and Computers. My interests include ecclesiology, especially the purpose of the gathering of the church. By God's grace, I attempt to live what I'm learning about the church. Lately I think God is putting something on my heart regarding what I call the "Aquilla & Pricilla" ministry.
I know that I can frequently become to theroretical in my thinking and need your input on this.
AQUILA & PRICILLA MINISTRY
Purpose: Means for Christ to plant HIS' church in a neighborhood and thereby expand His Kingdom.
Means:
Praying and discerning which neighborhood JC is choosing.
Finding a house within that neighborhood to rent which could enable us to practice hospitality.
Big kitchen
at least two bathrooms
separate area for the children inside and out
area for green houses as an employment means for young people
Getting to know neighbors and them getting to know us.
Door to door handouts or mailings? (refrigerator magnet)
Summertime kids Bible camp?
Weekend barbeques Volleyball, etc
weekend/weekday Bible studies
Neighborhood work projects
Make ourselves available for prayer needs for those within our neighborhood.
Homeschooling families
Draw backs:
Living life in a fish bowl. (landlord, neighbors, etc)
Increased risk of persecution (legal, political, social)
Increased exposure to the dark side of this world (system of intimidation/manipulation) we are sojourning in.
Less private at home time i.e. a lot of interruptions to our daily lives.
Pluses:
Keep us out of our heads and thinking about our problems by allowing ourselves to think about others needs.
Give our daughter a place alongside of us to BE a part of seeing God's kingdom expand in this world on a day to day basis.
Make the purpose of “work” more readily visible i.e. seeing more people drawn into the Family of God.
Increased avenues for God to touch our lives thru not together people.

Hey Alan. Can't wait to nose around this site and see what is to see.
Have you ever considered that perhaps Matt 18:17 is not as confrontational as we usually take it. Maybe Jesus meant that we should pray, care, and love the erring bro like we do all lost people. We give them special attention and a sense of fervency when we pray for them. After all, in regular church, we allow lost people in our services, even to the point of participation and inclusion, just to make them feel a sort of connection. The goal being their conversion, of course, by way of a solemn and sincere effort to make them part of a loving and accepting family who always has room for one more. Perhaps we keep the erring bro close and love him unconditionally with the intention of restoration in that regard.
What thinkest thou?
