it has been my experience and observation that 99.9% of all of my (our) troubles, tribulations, etc. are pretty much self induced. Occasionally I am "harmed" as the result of some other humans bad decisions and choices, but even what I…
As I read through this topic I am almost aghast, it seems to me that some here are actually concerned that Dena doesn't believe in satan enough or correctly? When did the belief in a personal devil become a necessary component of ordo salutis…
I think Bob and Rick's posts were both hilarious! Obviosly I must think the banjo and fiddle work great together because I didn't even see a conflict until others commented. I don't think Bob was licensing sin at all. I think he is…
Just a quick note to say that I've got to take a(n open-ended) break, folks ... my life is taking off in other dimensions, and I've got to focus on my artwork for the forseeable future.
Besides, I've likely said all I can say without…
Oh yeah ... humanity in general, including religion (including Christianity) has been "barking up the wrong tree" for eons. We were told to stay out of that tree (mindset) that makes us think we have the ability to lable things good/evil,…
There you go again with that sweet gentle spirit!! lol....I gotta say...i like the way you handle this kind of talk better then most......maybe I will just read and pray instead of interacting....I'd prolly do better!!.....I seem to see alot of…
Bob -
You sell yourself short, my friend ... I done tasted love flowing out of you. More than once...!
(sheesh, it could be habit-forming! quick! go judge somebody or something!)
Feeeeeeeeelin' the loooooooove...!
Shalom, Dena
Rick,
You are correct, I know even less about effectively loving than I do about keeping some of the laws of Moses. But I do know the source of love, I know the One who is defined by it, I trust the One who invented it. While I fail at delivering…
Oh this reminds me of last year ...! ;)
Rick, Sandy doesn't know you yet ... and she's reacting much like I did, when I first encountered your playful side, without benefit of the context of your good-hearted nature. Let her get to know…
From a friend:
Mixing the law and grace is such a serious deviance from the gospel, that it makes one spiritually shipwrecked in their faith. When we try to live under even a single part of the law, we are under a curse. Believers who live like…
Bob -- Your name is so familiar .. have we met on another forum? Have we met in person (maybe HeartChange)? And, you're in Portland -- I'm an hour south of you, in Dallas (west of Salem). I'm curious about you, your story, your journey, how you came from a more traditional perspective to where you are now...? Your posts are a breath of fresh air!
Are you familiar with Wisefire? It's a similar forum (NING), but for a more UR focus. I'd also love to invite you to consider joining a list I started a year ago, called "Sacred Cow Tippers". It's a wonderful group of folks who have all manner of views, and yet we share conversation with love and mutual respect. No pressure ... just the opportunity, if you're so led.
I just googled you: http://gracepromise.blogspot.com/2009/03/does-god-want-me-to-grow-beard.html
Oh my GOSH -- we have so very much in common ... I'm a friend of both Paul Young and Wayne Jacobsen ... & I'm familiar with Baxter Krueger ... this is becoming curiouser and curiouser..!
LOL! Well THAT explains why you felt so familiar!! Of course! Funny how my heart new the connection, and my mind was yammering about it!
I had no idea you lived so close ... I have one sister in Lake Oswego, and another in Vancouver (parents in McMinnville). We've been in Dallas for just over 3 years, previously in the Washington, DC area for 2 decades (served our time, got released, LOL!). I'm a native Oregonian (7th generation), so this was a homecoming for me.
I do know what you mean about the Shack forum ... I gave it a good shot, to feel it out, but it sure 'nuff doesn't have the essence of Paul Young about it. I go to where I'm drawn. Came here in September ... I think I was maybe the 9th member here, as my neighbors help run House2House, and the site owners know me (as well, they know of my beliefs). I didn't intend to "unleash" my views, but I got outted by a friend, so to speak, and went with it. There was quite the brouhaha a few months back, and several asked for my ousting ... many left, and I agreed to keep my views in certain threads (though how to any of us *not* let our views come out of our thoughts, speech, actions? integrity demands holistic living, no?).
I've learned so very much through this interaction here ... learned to connect at a heart-level with some with whom there was a more 'advesarial' relationship, and have let go of much fear of man ( the very hardest way, of course!).
I'd LOVE to have you join us on "Sacred Cow Tippers"... methinks you'd fit right in...! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SacredCowTippers/
I started it a year ago today (!), at the request (nah, the outright nagging!) of a friend who kept telling me to blog ... I did the list instead, so that there would be more interaction. and really, LOL, the Internet is my blog...! If we ever turned into a fundamentalist theocracy, there's enough "out there" to get me stoned several times over..!
and yet, how can we not follow the One who is within...?
I'm delighted to be able to connect with you in yet-another way!
