Marshall, That was a very good insight you shared. I appreciate that. I think any meetings are meant to be public as to invite/encourage others to come and celebrate life in Christ and see body life/fellowship in action. The only exception are those…

Why do some groups hide or meet in secret?

Thumbnail
Since meeting as a house church back in May 1996 I have notice that there are groups that meet and nobody knows about it unless you are part of that particular group.Why is that?What is the group trying to accomplish by meeting in secret as no one else knows about it? There is a possibility there is a larger number of believers meeting in homes than we realize. They can't be accounted for because these particular group don't want to connect with others.  See More

Bob, I think leaving the business model sets the stage for massively improved relating, and we just need to reach out in love to others and seek the Lord's guidance together. For example, I was troubled by how things played out during a…

Page, How was the picnic last Saturday? Craig from Portland stayed overnight at my place after he attended the picnic himself. He also said he met you as well. Was there anyone visiting from the Grays harbor area? Hope all is well and God bless, Bob

Thanks Bob for the kind words. You live in Washington State? Never been there but would love to visit someday. We've been in Ecuador now for the past 23 years as missionaries. Feel free to come by our "M Blog" and visit sometime http://guymuse.blogspot.com

Hi Bob,

So far over the past ten years of working house/simple/organic church planting there has not been a conflict with the IMB (SBC). They have fully supported our work outside the institutional church. If this should ever change, then we would have to look seriously at some kind of change. But until then, I see no reason to leave the SBC just to be leaving the SBC.

Bob;
I too am glad for the connection here despite the miles that may separate. You asked concerning the reception that we have had with simple church in a community our size. The reception has been mixed. I had pastored in this community for 6 years prior in a legacy church, so you can imagine the questions that raised when we stepped out. Having been a part of this community in a very visible way as a pastor and then/now as a police officer, people know my heart and desire is for God and His Kingdom to come. This has given me/simple church "credibility" to make an impact locally. I have to safeguard the gathering and my heart that whatever we do does not revolve around what we have been and done in the past. God is moving in amazing ways and in his timing. I am learning to wait upon the Lord more with each passing day. Blessings.

Hi Bob. Thanks so much for asking. I should say the process is going well but not easy. That's a long story I could tell you but in quickly words, we've lost some key peoples during this transitions because their strong institutional mindset. Also we've been facing some bad feelings/hard words from others but, on the other hand, we have about 50 people excited to find a new way of relationship with God and with the fellows brothers on this new SIMPLE journey. The truth is: make things simple is very complicated.
Thank you so much for your prayers. And believe me: we need your prayers even more now. God bless your life. Luis.
