Engaging In Dialog

In addition to the rules of this site, or maybe partly in explanation of how they apply, I propose some Rules of Engagement. These guidelines might help us build each other up in dialog and debate.

The tone of the writing and the words of the discussion should not be contentious . Proverbs says, "Only by pride comes contention". We know that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. People are not scalps to be collected and only God can… Continue

Releasing Jesus

This was so well written, the I could not do a better job myself, but wanted to share the power of Jesus with my friends on Simple Church:

Our job is to learn how to release the reality and power of the Testimony in the same way Jesus did.

Jesus represented God much differently than the Ark of the Testimony represented Him. There is a significant difference between a box of inanimate objects that points to spiritual realities and a living…

The Error of Mormonism

By Tal Davis

"But they use words just like ours: gospel, savior, atonement, virgin birth. In fact, don't they also baptize by immersion, send out missionaries, and talk about the gospel? It seems that their view of salvation is just like Baptists and other evangelicals! Isn't…

My name is Dana Cashwell and I along with my husband Travis, my three kids, Cameron 6 (she's a girl), Madeline 4 and Thomas 3 we left the church 2 years ago to BE the Church. The problem was we didn't know how to do it. Travis and I grew up in church so when we explained to our family, friends and church what God wanted us to do, the majority of them considered us apostates and heretics. Don't get me wrong, they loved us in their way, they just didn't support us.

A year ago, along with some of the friends we had left, started something called So What! Ministries (shameless plug: www.sowhatministries.com). Which was all about getting people off their butt and serving their community/church/family. Then we read Pagan Christianity. Mainly because George Barna was listed as an author. After reading it, we devoured everything that Frank Viola has written because he put on paper what we were going through and what to do about it. We're in the process now of revamping and updating everything.

I felt like I was wandering in the wilderness for 2 years searching for the promised land; thank God I finally found it! Delete Comment

Carolyn,

Thanks for your input. Yes the Kingdom of God is a now reality as well as a future expanded fulfillment. You are correct about the power of God being displayed in healings and so forth. I think many people who have a now understanding of the kingdom do not understand that this reality is much more than the display of power. It is a culture, a way of life, that is totally alternative to the social/political order that lives around us. KOG as I like to refer to it is a shadow community that exists yet it does not have boundaries. It is where true peace exists, love, fellowship and belonging, yet it is open to all who would come and it is quite noticeable for those who wan to see it in the world but at the same time it is not obvious to those who wish to destroy it. The KOG defies typical organization because it is truly Spirit controlled rather than just talk. The KOG penetrates to the lowest places in human existence as well as being noticed by the halls of power. The KOG sometimes penetrates the halls of power.

I am writing a book about Kingdom Living right now. It will be a tough pill to swallow for most people because we do not realize how much of the world's mindset has infiltrated our perspective. However, we must begin to shed the establishment mindset and allow KOG to revolutionize who we are and the way we live.

Carolyn,

Thanks for the tips. I will look into the resources. KOG is so extreme for most people. I am surprised to see it taught. In 35 years of "church" I never heard a single message on the subject. I did hear some prosperity teachings spouting the use of the word "kingdom" but it can in no way compare to Christ's application of the word.

There are nearly 400 texts in the NT that indicate a much different picture of kingdom than I have ever read or heard in modern forms. To me, a teacher type, it is interesting the use of grammatical features and the meanings of words to communicate a thought rather than a command or direct teaching. Most skate over this stuff and miss the forest for the trees.

Thanx for the Blog Response Carolyn,

The Lord spoke very clearly to me in quite discernable words after this election. He said, "Tell the whole congregation to go back to the desert, i am disgusted with them" and then i heard a sound as if He was spitting on the ground in disgust.

I was really shocked. I then opened my email to an international prophet/intercessor with words of woe and unbelief after his man( and woman) did not win. I then realized the church in the US and even many in other nations were discouraged and in unbelief over a purely worldy governmental issue.

I knew that I was hearing god then when i had written in faith that God was bringing change to the church and Obama was a sign. (not the answer, a Sign)

It is important to remember that complaining and murmuring and vilianizing Gods choice for president is complianing agianst God, NOT Obama. He sets up leaders.

I am not an Obama fan. I did not vote for him. But my God is working a mighty work in and through His people and no earthly leader is going to inhibit this. As a matter of fact God will get glory through the leaders He sets up.

Nice to make your aquantaince!!

Carolyn,

thanx for the reply to the blog. Jesus didn't try to stay in the synagogues and teach after they tried to throw him off a cliff. He went to the country and people came to him "Outside" the religious system. Sometimes we just know when people are not willing to hear the truth and we just move on. then there are those willing to hear, but this seems to be on an individual basis at times.

there is also a time we go to the temple and cleanse it and expect to be crucified for it. But those times are not as often as the times we just share as people come to us.

Kris
