Engaging In Dialog

In addition to the rules of this site, or maybe partly in explanation of how they apply, I propose some Rules of Engagement. These guidelines might help us build each other up in dialog and debate.

The tone of the writing and the words of the discussion should not be contentious . Proverbs says, "Only by pride comes contention". We know that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. People are not scalps to be collected and only God can chang… Continue

Releasing Jesus

This was so well written, the I could not do a better job myself, but wanted to share the power of Jesus with my friends on Simple Church:

Our job is to learn how to release the reality and power of the Testimony in the same way Jesus did.

Jesus represented God much differently than the Ark of the Testimony represented Him. There is a significant difference between a box of inanimate objects that points to spiritual realities and a living testimo

Clear Differences between Mormonism and Christianity.

The Error of Mormonism
By Tal Davis

"But they use words just like ours: gospel, savior, atonement, virgin birth. In fact, don't they also baptize by immersion, send out missionaries, and talk about the gospel? It seems that their view of salvation is just like Baptists and other evangelicals! Isn't t

So, organic church is pretty well a spontaneous gathering anywhere at anytime believers run into each other. Then do whatever you feel led to do at that spontaneous moment. Simple church on the other hand is a little more structured, but still no agendas and prepared plans. Again, looking for the Lord to lead into a certain direction. I would think that simple church would take up an offering when they meet, or at least when they feel led to do so.
What about teaching, preaching, etc.? I do not see where that would happen in the organic church. I could see that possibly happening in the simple church.
How does one stay grounded in biblical truth doctrinally speaking in the organic church? I can see where this might even be a problem in the simple churchas well. Does being anchored to biblical truth hole any significance for ya'll, or is it all relational dynamics? Does each individual determine for themselves biblical truth and principles? What if someone in the group denies the resurrection, how would that be rectified? What if a Jehoval Witness wanted to join your group? Would you try to win that one to Christ? You would have to engage ins some doctrinal matters for him to come into biblical agreement with you or your group. Just curious as to how you would handle these situations. What if a 'oneness' group was trying to proselitize members of your group. How would you correct the confusion they would instill in your memembers? There are legitimate reasons for defending the faith. This is an area of concern for me, because I have had to defend the faith many times against deceitful heresies trying to make their way into the fold.Let me know what are your thoughts.

So, Carolyn, I hear you speak of 'organic' church, rather than simple church. Are they the same thing, or is there a difference. It sounds as though you have spontaneous encounters with other believers and converse about something spiritual and call that organic church. Isn't that a little different than simple church. Are you saying that simple church and organic church are cut out of the same cloth? What are your thoughts.

Hi Carolyn,
I will not be able to make the conference. Do you attend a simple church or do you still attend a traditional church. What happens in your simple church meeting, because I've heard different scenarios. I'm still studying the 'simple' church model. Appreciate any insight you may have. Thank you. Enjoy the conference.

Carolyn,
Thank you for taking the time to email me your thoughts. They were very much appreciated. Actually, as soon as I return from Round Top, Texas in October I plan to start having a few friends over who are searching for Christ. One friend was born again while we were in Albuquerque a few weeks ago in our hotel room. The body of Christ is such an amazing living being. I don't know you.....yet God knew I needed a little prodding from someone outside my circle of friends. Thank you for listening and obeying Him. I don't have time this morning as I' m on my way to a meeting, but will check out some of your blogs and discussions. Seems like you are sensitive to the Spirit's voice. Thank you, Mitzi

Thanks Carolyn for the message.
It is cold at present where we are in Queensland, Australia.
I am glad you like the music - great brothers and sisters out there expressing their creative capacities! - "No one knows where the wind comes from or goes to, so are those born of the Spirit"(our King)
God Bless - Blair

Serving makes it easy ,because the oppurtunty is right in front of us starting with our spose and family, neighbors ,everywhere ,every day unless we are a monk or herment. Thanks, Carolyn, for updating me on Micheal's status, I've been offline for a while. Should have picked up on it when I saw that his laundry list of blogs was not hijacking the system. Intelligent personm, thought provoking to say the least. I had nposted on anothr young man's thread that the enemy often wins by default simply because us "christians" are too busy arguing with each othr. Regardless . . .
Incidently, I did ask Felicity mostly the same wuestion, and would love to hear feedback form all. As a woman, I've been on both sides of the issue, and been attacked on both sides. I currently teach in our home group, but ndo not hold "authority' over anyone but my son! I've read your comments on several threads, and appriciate them. Thank you.
