We recently left the ic after some long-term "divine wooing." Left it *emotionally* about a year ago. Hardest part was rejection/ridicule/misunderstanding from "church people" whom we thought were our friends.

Hi, everyone! We have been living "green" for many years by now, trying to be good stewards of what God has given us. Unfortunately, not many believers do understand where we come from and most probably think we are new agers or herbal witches or so…

Economics that scare me . . .

My area of Texas is considered highly Catholic AND Bible-believing Baptist. With so many people professing faith in Christ, I am shocked at what I am hearing in my community and on the radio. Some people who make more than $250,000 / year are getting out their old copies of “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand and they are identifying with the characters in her classic novel. I hear people saying that if Obama’s policies are going to punish those who are “productive,” they will start eliminating jobs at… Continue

"In Remembrance of Me"

I build my relationship with God in many ways; one way I remember Him is in regular times of PRAYER. I recall when I started a discipline of prayer. I had good intensions, but never quite succeeded. I realized that I checked my e-mail each morning more regularly than I prayed. Thus, my morning e-mail to God was born. My personal prayer took on the form of typing to Him like a very respected friend. I became eager to wake and tell him… Continue

Infertility and husband / wife roles

I came across THIS wonderful sermon by John Piper that has my mind sorting through what it means to be a biblical husband and wife when a couple is childless.

It is often difficult enough when a couple experiences infertility, but then salt is rubbed into the wounds when they look to their faith for help with coping and find that biblical husband / wife roles… Continue

FaceBook Petition for government to return marriage to churches

This is a call to our state governments to recognize the division of church and state when it comes to marriage and legal unions. The state government is the proper authority to define the rights and obligations of a single household within their state. Therefore, all persons wishing the legal protections of joint ownership and survivorship should apply to the state for whatever civil union the state defines; futher, only the state can dissolve civil unions.

The church is the proper authority t… Continue

Sitting with Jesus

Working with people who are very sick, I often have folks ask me to pray for them because they are too sick to find the right words or concentrate on the prayers they normally say. I say a lot of words to God over the course of the day and find when it is my turn to sit in the chapel and refresh, I love nothing more than to sit with Jesus in silence.

I sit, eyes closed and relaxed, and picture Him on the pew / seat next to me. I even feel like I can lean on His shoulder a little. If my mind wan… Continue

I am visiting my daughter and son in law who have just had a baby boy in San Antonio. I believe they would be interested in checking out a house church.
Is your group in San Antonio? What to get ahold of where you are presently meeting.

Nik, last week as I read your medical report for you and your husband that you shared at "Simple Unity," I heard Father say, "I want them healed." Well, during prayer, after our fish fry last Friday, Father spoke to my spirit concerning you guys once again. We travailed in the Spirit for these healings, and I am anticipating a supernatural move of Jehovah Rapha in this matter soon. I don't know when or how, but we have seen Him do it many times. We believe that "faith cometh by hearing" and in "faith which worketh by love." We will continue to thank Him with you.
Love Ya,
Marion

Pastor Raja-
There is a place in the forums to post prayer requests. I recommend it for your greater success than posting so many individual notes.

Good to hear from you Nik, and it is a good quetsion.
Jesus' scripture quotations and allusions sometime agree with the Septuagint against the proto-Masoretic Hebrew. Jesus' quotation of Isa 29:13 is quite septuagintal, both in form and meaning (cf. Mark 7:6-7). The identification of John the Baptist as Elijah who "restores" (apokathistanei) all things (Mark 9:12) seems dependent on the Septuagint form (apokatastesei), or at least a Septuagintal form of Hebrew, not the proto-Masoretic Hebrew, which reads hshyb ("return" or "turn back"). Curiously, both of these elements are found in Sir 48:10, in which the returning Elijah is expected "to turn [Septuagint: epistrepsai; Hebrew: lush},b] the heart of the father to the son, and to restore [Septuagint: katastesai; Hebrew: lhkyn] the tribes of Jacob." Both elements may well have been present in the original Hebrew version of Sirach.22 The quotation of Ps 8:3 (ET 8:2) in Matt 21:16 follows the Septuagint. Finally, the highly important allusions to phrases from Isa 35:5-6; 26:19; and 61:1 in Matt 11:5 = Luke 7:22 agree in places with the Septuagint
