Do we realy know what we belief?

On Thursday we had our weekly simple church meeting. In our conversation we where led by the Spirit to think and talk about the question: do we realy know what we belief? Do we realy know what the message of the bible is?

If we do, why we are so doubtful, why we are so affraid, why we are feeling not to be loved?

Simple questions often ask:

Why had Jesus to die? Was'nt there a way without dying but still saving us all?

And by the way, why is it… Continue

Are You a Troublemaker?

An interesting Video about the question how we will stand for the truth and how we will interpret the bible.

What was Elijah's reaction, when he was called an "Troublemaker" and how Luther respond?

1 Kings 18:16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah. 17 And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, [Art] thou he that troubleth Israel? 18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that… Continue

Hi Charly! Great to find out that not all homechurches are in the States! We are in Genk, Belgium and started our homechurch a couple month ago!

Things are as new here as they must be for you in Germany! But there is a great future ahead of us! Wherever we share about the idea of homechurch, especially young people get excited, feeling that this is the way to go.
Belgium has of course a lot less christians than in Germany, simply because of history, but I am convinced that the rise of simple churches will mean an open door to many more unbelievers as the traditional church can ever offer. We have seen that already, when we baptized our oldest son (16) and our unbelieving neighbors attended the meeting in our garden and were just very touched by what suddenly became visible for them! (They would never have come to a traditional baptismal service in church!) So, we are very excited! Let's stay in contact and see if we can learn from eachother, because our cultures are still quite similar. Have a great day with the Lord!

Sad to hear that. Are we europeans, aren't we!! Coming from over 500 years of Churchhistory! Defending ourselves, instead of having an open mind to others and give some contact a chance at least! But... we will learn. It takes time. (We better learn from americans, but not compare ourselves with them).
Our HC experience is pretty young, and we are just finding out about some others doing HC. So we didn't run into that kind of problem yet.... Wir sollen es nicht aufgeben, sondern mit diejenigen die offen sind weitermachen!

Hello Charly. I read your comments to Alex and they sound familiar (regarding suspicion, isolation, what to do about leadership). While the structure of how we meet is important (house/simple versus institutional), even more important are 1) setting aside personal interest to build up other people, 2) people who lead by example, as parents... not masters... these are true elders who serve and 3) as painful as it sounds, getting very clear on scripture that really matters most. /// I look forward to more dialogue as we make this journey of being and making disciples. I would recommend www.livewickmedia.com as a good resource. A 3 minute audio introduction will play automatically when you get there.

Talk to you later…
