Seems we're both here as well. let's hope this doesn't close. This is a Ning site as well. How are you? I am busy at present although we are going on Holiday on Saturday. Ready for a rest.
God bless
Francis.
Good to hear from you again. I, too, have not been here for more than several weeks, ever since the owner of this site told me to stop contacting members and "plugging" my millennium article. How is your study about the narrow path? Have you made your conclusion? I assume that the website you were referring to is the one where my article is posted. Have you found it (the site) helpful? I hope to hear from you again. Thanks.

The second gate of salvation pertains to the salvation of the soul. Here overcoming is needed. But both gates are entered BY FAITH.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28). This is speaking of the first gate -- the salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone, i.e., the salvation that has been finished at the Cross. We have it by believing simply. It is also called the salvation of the spirit. Verses 29 and 30, on the other hand, is talking about the second gate: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." This is the salvation of our souls. Note that it is also called a "rest." We do not work alone by our self-effort. We let the Son of God through the Holy Spirit to live His life IN us. By abiding in Him, and His word abiding in us, we produce the righteousness that is pleasing in His sight. Remember, self-righteousness is like filthy rags in His sight.
I think, more specifically your question is about the NARROW PATH. This narrow pathway, in reality, is the way that leads to the THIRD gate! There is a third gate of salvation. This is the gate to the GREAT SALVATION that is being offered to Christians (Heb. 2:3,5). This is described in Luke 13:24--30. Here it takes STRIVING. To be part of the Bride of Christ, His joint-heirs of the Kingdom, we have to strive for it during our Christian walk until death or the Rapture. I touched on it a bit in my article, didn't I?
Now for the hypothetical case that you posed. Does a Christian who is forced to deny Christ, say at gun point, lose his salvation? Of course not! Remember Peter. He denied the Lord thrice. But he did not lose salvation; he was restored in fellowship with Christ. Maybe there are consequences for recanting one's faith for a moment in such situation, but we simply don't know it now. But based on history, Christians are willing to die for their faith. They do not hold on to this life in the face of martyrdom.
By the way, I remember, "second death" doesn't allways mean eternal death. Many Christians will also suffer the second death. That's why I offered the book; therein are the explanations.
I can't get the website you mentioned. What is "a. pres."? Have I been of some help?

I'm Edgar from the Philippines. I'd like to invite you to read my article at www.bibleone.net/TheMillennium.htm. The millennium doctrine is vital for Christians to understand. It has to do with the salvation of the soul, not spirit (1 Pet. 1:9; James 1:21; Heb. 10:39; Matt. 16:24-28). I'd appreciate a comment, but you are not obligated.
Thanks,
