What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed

    Demolition of the Heart...

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. [Ezekiel 36:25,26]…

Refusing to play the numbers game....

As we navigate our way through many conversations and different journeys people are on as they make the step of leaving the institutional church, we seem to keep coming across a certain argument being made by some who desire to explain why it is better to gather in smaller groups with a "flatter" leadership than to remain in the typical pyramid-structure type of church.… Continue

    Just Being the Local Church...

Been having some interactions with several people lately, where we've been discussing the whole matter of the "universal" church vs. the "local" church. The more I try to communicate the very simple understanding we've come to on this, the more I find myself eventually banging my head against the wall. Many people believe that the "universal" church means…

Learning to walk through imaginary walls.....

One thing we have been talking about and walking through lately, is how we put into practice the newfound freedom we have come to understand. That is, in reality, there is only one Body of Christ, one family of God, one Bride, one Kingdom. As we have come to understand how so many of the practices held by… Continue

and they will know we are Christians by our Political Agenda

We were involved in a discussion on Facebook recently, talking about abortion, and what our duty as followers of Jesus is in this arena. This has been one of those topics we've always planned on writing about, but it just hadn't seemed the right time yet, that is, until now.

We know this is an extremely hot button topic for…

    Uncontrollable....

Have you ever stood on the shore of the ocean, and peered out toward the horizon? Or swam out past the surf, and floated in the calmer water, amazed by just how vast and massive the ocean really is? For human beings, there are probably few things one can experience on this planet that evoke as much awe, or a stronger feeling that you are in fact,… Continue

    Reflecting on the Trinity....

Recently, we were reading through an exchange between a couple of unnamed, well-known authors/bloggers discussing a variety of church-related issues. (You can find the full document here) What really stuck out were the ideas put forth concerning the Trinity, and specifically in regards to the question of whether or not the Trinity is itself an example of hierarchy, and thus the blueprint for embracing hierarchy as the way in which the church…

    The Broker

    The Broker..........

Dennis Flocker was in shock. He stood on the sidewalk in front of the bank’s front doors, unable to move, trying to process everything that had just happened. He stood motionless, still holding the letter that had arrived in his mailbox that morning. Dennis could barely process everything that had happened in such a short period of time. He had woken up with a feeling of dread, having nowhere… Continue

    <b>WDJD? (What DID Jesus Do?)..............</b>

    Did Jesus……

    A) Speak to people using clear, plain language, using illustrations and metaphors that everyone could understand?

    Or

    B) Speak to people using complicated, theological terminology which only those educated in religious matters would be familiar with?

    Did Jesus….

    A) Travel throughout the regions of Judea to seek out those who would… Continue

    Hi Daniel and Heather,
I'm Edgar from the Philippines. I'd like to invite you to read my article at www.bibleone.net/TheMillennium.htm. The millennium doctrine is vital for Christians to understand. It has to do with the salvation of the soul, not spirit (1 Pet. 1:9; James 1:21; Heb. 10:39; Matt. 16:24-28). I'd appreciate a comment, but you are not obligated.
    Thanks,
    Edgar Meneses

Thank you very much, Daniel and Heather, that you have begun to read my article. Concerning Matthew 24 and 2 Thess. 2 -- regarding the Rapture -- may I also mention that I have a separate article on that topic. When you have time look at it at www.rapturealert.com/doesbibleteachpretrib.html. This 2005 article needs revising, though, but no harm reading it. Thanks again, Edgar

Hi Heather! I'm really new here too. Actually looking for a local group to connect with, but not having a whole lot of "luck" in that area. My husband & I just continue praying and trusting God to keep teaching us & leading us & when His time is right, we'll have a community locally. Anyway, no those are not all "my" children, but they are my family. Three are ours and three are nieces & a nephew. We took this pic this summer at a little family picnic at a local park. As you can see I have a very silly family. As for the weather here in OH, I hear there's a chance of the "S" word this weekend! It's only a rumor, but Oh how I dread even thinking about it! Kerri

Hey Daniel and Heather, Peace and Blessings of the Crucified and Risen God upon you!

How much fun to meet you in another cyber venue! Thanks for commenting on my blog and for leaving me a message here. I know this network is for far more than just some "social" entertainment, and I look forward to what the Holy Spirit does through this site. Just this weekend we were able to connect with like-hearted people who live just 17 miles from us, as a result simplechurch.com.

One of our daughters has lived in Seattle for a little over a year now. My wife, Freida and I visited her there last March and enjoyed the area very much. I'm sending you a "friends" request. Nothing intended but to encourage one another on the journey as aliens in this world!

    Hi Daniel and Heather,

We are involved in an "organic" church if you will here on San Juan Is. We are being gentle a treading lightly thus far. I'm not sure if some of the folks who are attending realize we are a church. Really. One of the groups that helped us stumble into the meeting in "small groups" is a church movement called Christ the King. There is a worship center somewhat near you, here is the link- http://www.ctkonline.com/pages/page.asp?page_id=46703 Please stay in touch. Vic

Hello, Daniel & Heather. Are you the Daniel Rydstedt who has begun to send me "Lines from Daniel's Den"? If so, thank you very much for the eletters! They are very informative. I suppose you have finished reading my millennium article by now.

Well I think I know the moral of the story but I wasn't sure so I thought I would check before I made my comments. I attend a small Charity and although I thing the simple church concept has some good points I think painting all ministers as 'brokers' is to simplistic.
