this was so good am heartened to read your other posts. After having studied the Life of Moses three times (Exodus through Deuteronomy) and taught it as well, I thought I pretty well understood what God meant when He said "I Am Who I Am." But I'll a…

I am not my name. I am not my face. I am not my thoughts, my feelings, or my physical body. Those are all things I have, but none of things I am. So, who am I? Identity is famously difficult to define. I can answer, "I am David Gregg," but do you k…

Dave, I appreciate your article, at least the portion of it I had time to read. Actually, you are being too kind to "being fair". The scripture considers "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" as fairness. The recipient of the one getting their…

I have just had an amazing couple of hours reading some of Dave and Maggie's writings. Life isn't fair - suffering is unevenly distributed - real love is almost unknown! I have been a committed 'Christian' for almost 50 years - but it was almost a…

Ditto: As I started out in 1968 as a Southern Baptist and starting my walk with Jesus, the “name” thing got to me too. I just told people I was a Christian. Your make light with your humor of a important truth and what really hurts the Father, our s…

thanks for this thought provoking entry. I too have been meditating on love quite a bit lately. Wrote a long email to some friends with some meditations about it which I think will eventually make it in some form to my blog. Plus revisited an articl…

Fairness is metallic. It is joyless. It is good only by default—only because it is not evil. It is the line that delineates what is good to do and what is not, but it is just the line—not the path. It says, "Beyond this point are higher things, bett…

I only just discovered this poem. But already it is a favorite. I believe MacDonald here is writing from his experience as a father of eleven children—four of whom preceded him in death, along with some of his earlier grandchildren. This man knew su…

Thanks Dena! I'm glad you're not a skimmer. :) Tell me about yourself! Where are you on the journey? (Private Message is welcome.)

George MacDonald has opened doors through which I have gladly entered ... never looking back.

Brilliant, Dave. I like how your mind works ... how you move beyond status quo, and engage the heart and mind of the reader (no, I am not a skimmer...!). ;) I've become a good woman (likened to the One who is in me, and I in Him), one who is learni…

What's in a Name?

I am not my name. I am not my face. I am not my thoughts, my feelings, or my physical body. Those are all things I have, but none of those things I am. So, who am I?

Identity is famously difficult to define. I can answer, "I am David Gregg," but do you know who I am because you know my name?… Continue

's great to be a part of this network. I am excited about what God is doing all over the globe and also about what He is doing right here in my homeland of Barbados. I can't take the time to tell my entire story now but it is sufficient to say that while my husband Gabriel and I were still Associate Pastors at a non-denominational fairly institutional church (where God nonetheless was moving) we began to feel distinctly uncomfortable with much of what we did and with much of what had become standard in most evangelical churches; even those which like ours at the time, were patterned after the "new apostolic churches". We were growing weary of much of the Pastoral dependency, emphasis on hierarchy, and other challenges of institutionalization including "over-programming!". We knew of nothing at the time called simple churches or organic churches but God in His wisdom began to emerge within our hearts a new and more relational emphasis in ministry and as we became exposed to the literature out there it began to resonate with our spirits more and more. My husband Gabriel and I would be quite pleased to connect with others following the journey of simple church. God Bless!

Dave, Thanks for inviting me months ago. I'm sorry that I haven't check the website. I'm just starting to check it out. I've been a christian for 26 years and have been through 4 churches. I will never go back to the instutional church. I believe it is set up like a business. The church in America has to repent for its greed. Also for most churches, they leave little for the Holy Spirit. I am in the S.F. Bay Area and have been taking a break from church. I am looking for a organic group in the Bay Area eventually. It looks like your a poet. I'm a musician. I hope you can connect with some people. Again, sorry for not responding to the friends request. Keep the Faith!! Ken Johnson

Dave, I received an e-message that you had added me here as a "friend", but, looking to see, I don't appear today to be on your friends list. Did I come and go? Would you happen to know (in Bloomfield) Maria Wade or Ross Eiler?
