The Anointing Thread: Further Miscellanious Thoughts

Whether I am just on a roll or not I don't know, but I am persuaded there is more that I should share, things that are at least blog-related, things that the either the Lord has directly spoken to my spirit or things that, in my opinion, the present state of affairs in our country make it wise to know or to be aware of, those who worship at home no less than anyone else.

I begin with two separate but related stories. The first began in New York in 1969, and involved two brothers who… Continue

Tying Up Some Loose Ends, and Maybe Some New Stuff

Twenty years ago, only a few months after Lynn's death, my middle daughter, Eileen, went to work for a beautiful group in Florida called "Bread", perhaps later renamed "Bread for Children", led by Anna Lee Charlton, a real woman of God who published this superb magazine for children of Christian parents, or any others who wanted the ways of God. So we took Eileen down after school was out, left her, and then picked her up again at the end of the summer. At that time I was of the misguided idea… Continue

Continuing in the Theme of Growing in Maturity in The Anointing

Unfortunately, as I continue with my blog (which has turned, for better or for worse, into my life story) it gets more complex rather than more simple. I guess I should restate that to say that my interests cover a much wider field now that when I was younger, but the secret to living has become quite simple. That simplicity can be stated in simple words. Reading the Word every day, acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus every day, and then just doing what comes next, with the listening to the… Continue

Hoping for a Concluson to Maturing in The Anointing

It is important to keep focus, mine and yours. The focus is, What is GOD doing? Often we lose sight of that in the narrowed vision of how to get our of my particular crisis. In regard to that question, however, I wish to mention a brother who, in the last 30 years, has been clearly the leading influence, teaching wise, in my life. His name is J. Preston Eby. He lives in El Paso, TX, and I have been on his mailing list since the late 70's. He is without a doubt a double blessing in that 1, He… Continue

Blog #2 Maturing in The Anointing

In Blog Number 1, which I did about an hour ago, I left off on or around 1972. This blog will proceed, but along different lines, which I hope I can explain.

I trust it is our united purpose on Simple Church to glorify Jesus Christ, and while I freely admit there are many, many ways on a daily basis by which he is glorified, one common thread is to put others ahead of ourselves, or perhaps in a more realistic mode of describing it, at least taking a real interest in others and making… Continue

I do not want to start a free for all on the South Carolina Organic Church Network in fact, I had started to write comments and erased them multiple times. But, I could not agree more with your comments if I tried. It is almost as I wrote that note.

As for tithing, it is all His and I am entrusted to use it for His Kingdom. He has given me very different orders than anyone else. His ways are not our ways. This tithing junk is mans formula to get rich and be religious. This is nothing short of spiritual witchcraft. When I saw this it really scared me and showed me how much of these little formula's I used that were not Spirit lead. It dawned on me why I received bad fruit.....

I will not be part of IC in the Home. I will not be part of Sectarianism, HC has the potential to do the same thing. I do want to homeschool my son to teach him the right values and instill in him the things he needs to be a Joshua.

I am called to teach too but do not have a MDiv but I have the Master's wisdom which is so much more important. I am amazed by the teaching and thinking through out the Church in general. Some times it scares me. I have felt like our ministry (My wonderful bride and myself) is to be an Ezra Ministry. Restoration of His Bride to His purpose.

Be Blessed my friend,

Greg

Hi, David

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner--we've had a lot going on here (Praise God), and I did ask one of our guys (in an e-mail) whether he knows the Pendletons. (He's involved in a charity ministry here in town, and seems to know everyone.) I just asked him again--I think my e-mail must have gotten buried. ;) Thanks for your tip--we'll definitely try to get in contact.

God bless, Cindy

I wanted to say I appreciate your insight and wisdom. The thread on Biblical Base was so nicely tied up I didn't want to post there again, but I really wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading and learning from what you have to say. Peace! Merika

David,
Sorry no one has gotten back to you on the site about Sunday. I would offer, but I am trying to stay behind the scenes as I organized the get together and I do not want anyone to think I am trying to take leadership over the work God is using them in. There are a few in the group who have been so hurt by institutional church that they are really concerned about falling into that again. I am confident that you will find volunteers on Saturday. Perhaps you can ask a few people to read for you while we are hanging out at the zoo. I am excited to see how God is leading you to guide us in the Scripture and in our focus on the resurrection. Thanks again for taking the responsibility.

love you guys,
tom

The fire has begun in Kenya.
Once again I want to sincerely thank you for standing with us in prayer last week when I requested for the same. I had no idea how our first Simple Church experience would be like. I’m so humbled as I report that your prayer for us was answered. Twenty people had agreed to attend; thirty six came! My living room was filled to capacity, with some standing by the door. I had asked the Holy Spirit to lead and He was so faithful. I bear witness to His almost tangible presence that nostalgic evening. Those two hours! Most of the people present were, like me, born and raised in church, while others gave their lives to Christ in high school or college. Sometimes back they stopped fellowshipping at their respective ‘churches’ because they found not what they were looking for. It’s worse when one is working or in business and gets regular income! Some backslid as others remained in their homes, wounded and confused.
I had asked favor from the Holy Spirit to help me not speak against the established church or going personal on any issue in this very important meeting. The Spirit led us! When we sang “Amazing Grace”, (which to me now is an anthem for sinners) everybody just stood and then knelt. We all wept so bitterly without anyone’s influence but the Holy Ghost Himself. He convicted us without any man’s or woman’s hand. This went on for over 45 minutes. We then held each other’s hands and just prayed for one another! It was so enriching. My goodness, this is what we had been looking for, some of us for so many years! There wasn’t any interruption. After this, Madam Priscah (a colleague) stood and read this scripture-2Cor 11:20-21 “In fact you put up with anyone who enslaves you or exploits you or takes advantage of you or pushes himself forward or slaps you in the face. To my shame I admit that we were too weak for that.”
This part of scripture came with so much force; the voice so clear, that the Lord had started a movement in this house, that will lead to a Revolution in the body of Christ in Kenya and Africa. We parted ways so lifted up, refreshed and enlightened.
Since schools had closed for the August holidays, I traveled to Kitui via Nairobi on Monday (the following day), on my way to visit my wife, Roseline, who is an accountant and works in the Eastern Province. Tuesday night we had a gathering in Nairobi city. I had phoned informing some friends about the simple church and my intention that we meet at one of my friends’ house. Twenty four people attended, among them two pastors. Unlike the meeting at my house, this had some challenges that I know the Spirit wanted me to be aware of. It almost became a bickering contest and I found myself engulfed in this morass. This group will be meeting Friday nights at a restaurant. I’m worried because I see narrow agenda within the group. This is why I think we need to training. We need to know how to handle simple church, being religious and artistic we are. We’re people that take things to the extreme; wrong things or right things. If the beginning/foundation be right, the right extremes will resound in every corner of this globe. As I prepare to host another meeting tomorrow down here in Kitui town, I’m praying for partnership with other parts of the world- brothers and sisters with experience in the simple church. I want them to come forth and help us.
I read about two young people staying with Jon Dale in the US, to learn and bring us what they’ve got. That’s great. It sounds wonderful coming to the West for training. People in Africa would love that! But I feel it would be more thoughtful if the West came to Africa and met us and talked to us in our homes, villages and cities. The impact would be more profound, am sure! These pioneers would go into annuls of history as people who wrought a new beginning in the body of Christ in Africa. This is what the Lord has put on my mind, and I know it’s the right path.
Jim.
