My name is Dana Cashwell and I along with my husband Travis, my three kids, Cameron 6 (she's a girl), Madeline 4 and Thomas 3 we left the church 2 years ago to BE the Church. The problem was we didn't know how to do it. Travis and I grew up in church so when we explained to our family, friends and church what God wanted us to do, the majority of them considered us apostates and heretics. Don't get me wrong, they loved us in their way, they just didn't support us.
A year ago, along with some of the friends we had left, started something called So What! Ministries (shameless plug: www.sowhatministries.com). Which was all about getting people off their butt and serving their community/church/family. Then we read Pagan Christianity. Mainly because George Barna was listed as an author. After reading it, we devoured everything that Frank Viola has written because he put on paper what we were going through and what to do about it. We're in the process now of revamping and updating everything.
I felt like I was wandering in the wilderness for 2 years searching for the promised land; thank God I finally found it!
Hey folks! Thanks for the friendship invitation! It sure makes me feel a lot better. In these parts (as in many, I guess) people with the kind of views on church that we might just about share are few and far between, and to pastors a 'revolutionary' like myself is about as welcome as a Jehovah's Witness on their doorstep! After a quick look at your blog (how I wish simplechurch would use profiles, so we could quickly see a resume about the people who contact us) it looks like you're almost as wacky as me. I'd be glad to have you as a friend :)
P.S. pls pray for me over the next couple of weeks. I'm off to India (terrorism permitting). It can be difficult juggling evangelism and nurture, though 'traditional' church models, whilst also trying to guide believers in the direction of simple church. Still, 'paths of righteousness' and all that stuff.
Dana, since 2000 I've been ministering into a closely-defined region of south -east India, helping local churches be planted and nurtured (around 65 so far?), and training 'pastors'. Trying, increasingly, to encourage participation in the 'revolution' of simple church. My visa allows me - officially - to evangelise and preach etc, as well as do work normally associated with charities/ NGOs - which Heavenfire Ministries is. Only prob .. its a hassle renewing it. I'm going out to renew the visa and residential permit, and also to do stuff with both new and established partners. See and join the mailing list for more! [Ooops.. sounds like marketing .. I'm outta here!]

Is this a general invite? Why pick me?
