"You see, one human being to me, even a bum on a street, is worth more than all the holy books in the world...My Spirit is not an historical thing, it's alive, right now, RIGHT NOW, as fresh as your next breath. "Religion is not an end in itself. One's union with God is the ultimate goal.. There are so many religions because immature people tend to emphasize trivial differences instead of important likenesses. Differences between faiths lie in creeds and rituals rather than religious principles."

Progressive Faith Vs. the Illulsion of Control

[Taken from an article, "Progressive Faith vs. the Illusion of Control" by Fred Plumer - http://www.religion-online.org/showarticle.asp?title=1648]

"The point is that it is always easier not to question or doubt. It is usually easier to ignore the truth if it requires that we change. It will often be easier to stay in the same place.

Progressive faith is like learning to ski down a…

Right Vs. Wrong...?

(Received in my emails today...)

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...

....that being "right" has nothing to do with it.

The idea that you call "right" is the idea that someone

else calls "wrong." The solution that you call "perfect"

is the solution that another calls "unworkable." The

position that you feel is unassailable is the very

position that others… Continue

What System Blinds Me/Us...?

(from Richard Rohr - one of my fave contemporary mystics!)

Question of the Day:

What system may be blinding me?

The rich young man in Mark 10:17-22 isn’t personally a bad guy; he’s simply a normal part of the system in which he’s stuck. Thus Jesus calls him to distance himself, or even separate himself from it for his own liberation. Most people are not personally bad or evil, but they are often a part of structures that make it impossible for them to see… Continue

A Symphony of Messages that I Can't HELP But Share...! :)

I receive a myriad of "daily messages" from many resources ... it's uncanny to me how very often they will give forth the same message, the same understanding ... I love how God's truth permeates the universe, how each "tongue and tribe and nation" can hear Him, perhaps in their own unique language, and can tune in to His heart, to His nature. The universal message here is forgiveness ... not only in the receiving of it, but in the lavish generosity of giving it, even when not "deserved", even… Continue

How is the risen Christ seen as subversive and hidden?

Question of the day:

How is the risen Christ seen as subversive and hidden?

Jesus is among us now in a new way as the Risen Christ, the Christ who is everywhere, beyond all limits of space and time. On Good Friday we saw the relationship of all humanity to God: We kill what we should love. On Easter Sunday we celebrate Jesus coming back into a world that rejected him.

Jesus knows we didn't like what he had to say the first time. We weren't ready for that… Continue

Hey Deb, welcome aboard here ... It's a great idea, but most folks haven't yet discovered it... maybe we can do something about that...?

Who's your old friend here?

Hey You! Thanks for the invite! Not sure if I'll have much time for this, so we'll see. Miss you all, too! Spent a good portion of August trying to see all the kids and grandkids! September always brings me back to some sort of schedule! How was the conference? Love you too, Vonny : )

Hey!
A friend? Me? Cool! So, here I am... I'm let's see what happens from here.
Funny thing is this picture came up, along with my screen name, Eleutheros, when I typed in my e-mail address.
The only place I've ever put the two together was when I left a comment on a fan website, Trower Power, after seeing my favorite guitarist, Robin Trower, at House of Blues in Dallas.
So I guess, to the world, I am Eleutheros till kingdom come...
With much agape
Dennis!

Hey Dena...
go out and play?? What a novel thought! I haven't taken time for that in a long while. I'm enjoying your posts as well...you are delving much deeper than I could ever dream to! I was telling Suzette that it is so cool that we are all sharing our different thoughts...I'm really enjoying that. Hopefully we can all remember the common thread that brought us together...HIM! You really do have a wonderful way with words! Wish we could fellowship in person!
