The Christianity of a preacher telling stories and jokes is in many cases far from the true spirit of the apostolic early Church. Could you imagine the Apostle Paul cracking joke in the middle of his exhortation to the Ephesians? Or the Apostle Peter giving a heart-warming story to keep the people interested before he closed his epistle.
The atmosphere of local churches has become very far from what has been prescribed in the New Testament. The serious attitude of having an awe…

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1)
It is a scary thought in our minds of the possibility of losing our salvation. Many claim this can not happen and give hundreds of theological verses to back up the point, others try and prove it by claiming just as much scriptural support but bending the scriptures to prove their point.
Now I am not fully arguing that…

North America has been a place of Christian liberty since its inception1. This has allowed many vibrant godly forms of Christianity to grow and prosper and in the same token it has sadly allowed some of the vilest perversions of Christianity to prosper also. One cannot begin to calculate the effects of such cults, heretical groups and false Gospels that have been allowed to prosper under the banner of religious freedom and expression.
Though apart from some of these groups which…

Greg, it is so good to read this "status" item that you recently posted: "When the Holy Spirit teaches you; You become humble. But when you learn scriptures without revelation it leads to pride and a puffed up mind." How crucial this is! And even acknowledging this as a teaching of scripture does not, in itself, put us in a relationship with God which involves His revelation to our hearts! We can know the teaching regarding revelation, and not experience it! He is the one who opens ears and eyes, who opens hearts and minds, who takes us more fully into His life, a life of death and resurrection and ascension! Isn't He so good!
Have you read T. Austin Sparks or Andrew Murray? (I suspect, in your vocation, that you have likely come across them) Both of these men have been nurturing our spirits in recent years concerning how infinitely rich and deep is our salvation, because of the excellence/ perfection of the Son and His indwelling Spirit. They have given much to the church in teaching on the themes that your three recent status posts have announced.

Greg Gordon said… Dear Brother, amen to all you have said. That is something christians sometimes miss but its crucial that we need to continue to have revelations in our Christian life and secondly to practice and walk in what we are taught by the Spirit. I like how you put it: "We can know the teaching regarding revelation, and not experience it!"
I have been blesssed to have the entire works of T. Austin sparks in my library and have benifited greatly from reading him. Andrew Murray though more practically also has a very great revelation of the Lord and I have beniifited much from reading him also.
It is wonderful there is such a heritage of these saints that we can gleam from. But also my desire is that I can read the word of God and have the Spirit teach me in the same way. May God continue to bring us all to the maturity of Jesus Christ.
