The "Corporate" Image of Church: A High Powered Enterprise

These make-overs has given the church a "corporate" image, where a lot of pragmatism and utilitarianism dominate its landscape. Such image somehow nurtures a consumer-driven spirituality and reinforces the ethos of individualism, materialism and patronism (A "patron" is one who poses as the father…See More

Romero's Prayer

Here's another excerpt from the book "Becoming the answer to our prayers." This is a quoted prayer from the late Archbishop Oscar Romero who was assassinated by a right wing para-military group while conducting mass. He was a vocal critic to El Salvador's dictatorial rule. A true prophetic voice at that time. He was assassinated on March 24, 1980. There was a film made based on his true to life story called "Romero" which starred Raul Julia playing the role of Bishop Romero. I highly recommend… Continue

For Thine is the Kingdom...

Hello there readers. I just want to share with you an excerpt from the book I'm currently reading called, 'Becoming The Answer To Our Prayers' written by Shane Claiborne and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove. I am so inspired by these two men who radically embodies what it means to live for the Kingdom. They are also co-founders of the New Monastics, a movement of emerging intentional christian communties in the U.S. Much of what the two are saying deeply resonates with what I am trying to articulate… Continue

Living Christ, Living Cross

"Living Christ means a living cross, Everything else is a living death." - Mohandas K. Gandhi

Wow! What a statement from a Hindu. Mahatma Gandhi never became a christian. Sadly, he was turned off by the way Christians live. But Gandhi fell in love with the Jesus he read on the Gospels. For many years he held onto the ethic of the Sermon on the Mount. He literally lived it out. That ethic paved the way for him to become a powerful influence to his countrymen in India that led to their… Continue

Life Together

Colossians 3:12-17 (Today's New International Version)

12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,…

Thank you, Jon. Might ask you if you can join a lunch-mtg at Tagaytay that's being planned, of pastors of the churches that were represented at the Cross Current, once date is confirmed.
