HI Joseph. The next phase of our Lancaster project is a food/clothing distribution on Saturday July 25th. We are partnering with Harmony Tabernacle Church at 200 Rea Street in Lancaster. We need 30 volunteers to staff the event from 8 am to 1 pm. We are looking for volunteers from the DFW simple church community.
Thank you for keepin' touch with Dezi & Susie. I finished a 10 week visit with a 12 Tribes (Spriggs) community, and have since met with others from faith communities. 2 months developing a fusion of RSS to the database, and then my back went out -- 3rd time with disc trouble. Today, recovering from consequential sciatic nerve inflammation in Carlsbad, CA, USA. Face down, face up, waiting upon the Spirit of the Lord to vex me.
Joseph ---
Good to hear from you. Sorry we couldn't make it this evening.
Were with our "Beer and Wine Store" friends earlier this evening.... Hope to see you next week!
I read your writings on Gospel Poverty. How's that going? From what I can gather God's put this on your heart.. I love how He does that. He speaks to each of us individually and we hear Him. I remember a couple years ago I met weekly with a few others once a week for a shared meal and sharing hearts. I had this strong pull to visit a nursing home and spend time with the elderly there. I knew God was putting this desire in my heart, kind of came suddenly and the desire continued to increase with fervor. Pretty soon I was sharing that with everyone at our gathering and trying to persuade them to come along with me since that's what God had put on my heart to do. One older man, I think of him as an elder, not an "office of the elder" like traditional churches set up, but he was truly an elder, an older man who had been walking with the Lord for many many years, he was seasoned with the spices of having been hanging out with Jesus for a long time, and very wise, self-controlled and his words were just life giving.... and you felt like he cared for all of us in a quiet way.
Anyways, he told me that God spoke to each of us and not to be disappointed that not everyone was interested in joining, because just as God had shown me what He wanted me to do, He would do the same with others who He wanted this from and He really didn't need me to tell them. That was an eye-opener.... because God gave that ministry/calling to me, didn't mean that He gave it to everyone in the group to do, He'd let them know, He would be able to put it in their hearts just as He did me. So, it probably would have been enough if I'd just shared what God was doing with me and then maybe other's who had heard from God would just speak up. But, I came out with the idea, had the plan, the date, place, etc. etc. and was expecting everyone to come along and have the same heartfelt desire that I had. and this was a good thing, you can imagine my disappointment when it wasn't reciprocated as I had assumed.
I just thought maybe you might want to keep this thought in the back of your mind, in case you find yourself getting disappointed if there should be some who don't respond with the agreement. it sounds like this gospel poverty has picked up some momentum as you've shared. Thanks for sharing what God's doing in your life these days.. claire
Hello Joseph. We are in Fort Worth, not too far away from you. Just moved into the area in July for husband's work. Thanks for the invitation for friendship. I see you writing in your picture, would that mean you are a writer?
