Pagan Christianity

WOW.
Frank Viola warned us to stop reading if we didn't want to hear the truth, but I didn't "take the book to Goodwill" as he suggested as a way to remain in denial. I read the "red book" and have fallen down the rabbit h***.
Though very unsettling right now, at the bottom I expect to find a treasure.

Kathryn, I will begin praying for you as you seek out God's direction for your life.

I have not read the book you mentioned, but I know from my own journey this year and the testimony of others around me, that God is calling His people to return to the foundations that Christ established.

I've watched God do things in and through me that I never thought possible...I simply find myself asking for more.

After you and your husband have had a chance to watch the video again, why don't we set up a time to talk by phone. I would love to be used of God to help you in drawing closer to Him.

Kathryn:

Thanks for your reply... and for your prayer. We will pray the Lord give you clear direction as you move forward with opening your home and building fellowship in the Body. Let me know if we can help you in any way.

Blessings,

Randy

Maurice is a great source of help in making the transition to home church. He guided me along the way when I was living in the Pacific Northwest. I consider him a close Christian brother. We meet on Sundays at 1 in the afternoon, sharing a meal together, spending time in worship and/or wherever the Holy Spirit leads. Right now we have two families as we just moved to this area. We came to Hickory for the sole reason that this where the Lord told us to come. No jobs, no family, no nothing, except the Lord's direction. Feel free to join us if you want. If you do, let me know and I'll send you a private message with my phone number.

Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for the cheer on the Women starting a simple church blog. Not much I could reply except. Thanks. :-) What a great encouragement!

Kathryn: In answer to your question about whether our meeting is "organic as defined by Frank Viola"; the answer is yes. At least we try to be. I have found in my experience that there is no set formula. I have read the complete Viola collection, starting almost two years ago with "Rethinking the Wineskin". We have no self defined roles, titles, offices, etc. The only leader is Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

I will tell you, that having come out of a lifetime in the IC in various capacities and churches (most recently Hope Chapel and Calvary Chapel), there is a period of "detoxing" that all of us go through in seeking a more organic expression of the bride of Christ. The fact that you found Viola's books convicting as well as compelling, reminds me of the same feelings I had when I began to read his books.

My wife and I would love to get together with you and your husband informally over a cup of coffee or something. Our times are very flexible and we don't mind driving to your neck of the woods as we are just up the road in Mountain View. My cell phone number is 208-755-9461. Since we just moved here, my wife is dying to develop relationships with other Christian women in this area who share the same heart for the Lord. (She is also a very talented musician).

Anyway, feel free to call anytime or ask any further questions.

P.S. If you get the chance, you should listen to one of our favorite songs is Jason Upton's "Freedom". It really spoke to us when we began our journey out of the IC. Blessings.

That sounds great. Check with Bruce and let me know. If its during the school Christmans break any day works for us, when school is in session my stepdaughter has cheerleading practice on Monday evenings after school. Neither of us work, so we are also available during school hours. We look forward to meeting you guys.

Those are on my to read list (which is growing by the moment). Having read some of Frank's discussions online, I know we would not totally be classified in that way. Some of our groups function very much like the "organic" group he describes, but we also have groups where only 1 or 2 people are followers of Christ, so the gifts of the Spirit do not show themselves, because Christ is not a part of their lives yet.
