Hey Lionel! Welcome to SimpleChurch. I've noticed there are alot of people here from the Dallas area.

Hello Lionel. Welcome. How has the house/simple church (HCSC) journey been so far?

Lionel, there is a short and a longer version of something I find very helpful at: http://www.livewickmedia.com/simply_follow/

Hey, Lionel. I bookmarked your site. I also read your testimony. Man, what a ride! // The church in general has not done well at stating the gospel clearly and leaving "disputable matters"... disputable. If we fail to draw a big, thick black line between the things that are the ‘core content’ of the New Testament and the things that are not, we will waste time bickering and dividing over non-essential issues. However, the core content, the gospel, must be understood clearly and not watered down, or else we will not be making disciples as Jesus called us to! More at www.livewickmedia.com/core_content/

We started with people we already knew, who trusted us and we trusted them. It was and is a small group... but that's part of the idea! Then, the small groups multiply outward. That's the key to not turning inward.

I understand and respect your concern. You don't have to try to draw people into a HCSC pathway. However, if there are people who are close friends and you tell them in conversation that this is what you are going to do, you aren't recruiting them. Candidly, some will think you have gone off the deep end and won't want a thing to do with it... but they may still be friends. You have to walk that line between recruiting the connected and just telling your friends where you are headed. Otherwise, go meet a totally new group of people by joining a soccer league or taking up a hobby. To be overly candid, (and I may pay for this one)... I have not use for the system (institutional church). Please understand, I very much love a LOT of people who are in the system, but I do NOT agree with or condone the system at all. It can make a whore out of a good man and keep people babies forever. Now (if you are still reading...) some people do grow in the IC system, but that growth is IN SPITE OF they system, not because of it. Lastly, if you identify people who are DYING in the system and they DO decide to join you... just maybe you helped them be free.

Still friends? I hope so. But I stand by what I said regardless.

There is a member on the site named David Underwood. I would recommend contacting him. He is in the DFW area.
// The journey out of the IC is typically in terms of years. It was for my wife and I. Reading "Houses That Change The World" by Wolfgang Simson is one of the best things I could recommend.

Nee groups is the "Christians On Campus" groups, correct?

I am familiar with Watchman Nee's writings. It's been years since I've read the books, but they were pretty solid and challenging as I recall.

Hi Lionel. What's the latest? If we become friends on here I can send you messages versus comments. No big deal either way, just less stuff on your comment wall if we do messages.

So, what's new in your journey?

You need to be a member of SimpleChurch to add comments!
