Hello! // Do you and your friends have a plan at all when you come together (for example, scripture everyone read beforehand)? Or, do you not plan at all? Which has been better in your experience?

We do both, actually. The group I meet w. on Friday nights is going through the Gospel of John a paragraph at a time. That began about 2 years ago and we are in the middle of chapter 12. The group that meets in my home on Mon nights is more of a sharing time where we share what the Lord has been speaking to us about or questions that have come up and we search the scriptures and ask the Spirit for His wisdom and answers(Jn. 16:13). In my home we have gone through books of the Bible, too. When we meet in my brother's restaurant, it's whatever is on our hearts. I used to have a topic or Scripture "just in case" no one had anything, which I've never had to use because the Spirit has always moved and led and spoken! Our group in El Paso has always been a sharing group. They key we have found whether it's studying a book, a topic, or having a sharing time is that no one comes with an agenda, but with an expectancy that God is going to meet with us and speak to us. There is nothing wrong with having a plan as long as the group is learning to listen to the Spirit and allow Him the freedom to speak what the group or someone in the group needs to hear. I hope this answers your question...

Well said Mark.. regarding coming with and expectation versus and agenda. That is critical. We sometimes go thru a book and other times with zero "plan" at all. It's always subject to being led another direction. Godspeed!

Yes, Mark, I did! I'm so sorry I didn't get right back with you- I waited to respond until I spoke w/ my husband (we don't see him 1 day a week b/c of his school schedule), then I forgot somewhere in my busy schedule! Thank God for Saturdays!

Anyhow, we would love to get together with you & Lois. We are not currently part of a house church, but our small group that we're still a part of from our IC has most of the elements (meal, worship, sharing, going through scripture together, prayer). We're in "search" mode right now & are just wanting to allow God to mold our perspectives & vision for our family. We've currently been in talks with an organic church in Mason that we'll be visiting in 2 weeks.

It sounds like your schedule is more flexible than my husbands, he works Wed.- Sunday in Chelsea, so he leaves at about 5:am & is home by 3:. I think the best days to get together would be Monday (20th) in the morning or noon time (we get our son from school at 3:20), or Thus-Saturday evening after 4:00. I'll let you decide, we would love to hear of your experiences & thoughts, and simply get to know you! Blessings!

It sounds like

Small world! Consider it done...I love trying new coffee places w/ my love. I hope you & Lois have an amazing time together! My husband & I had a long-distance relationship for over a year. It was the hardest time of my life, but it gave me an appreciation for him that is very deep. Blessings
