Hi Marshall;

It was the Lord who began to show me through scripture about His church; its purpose and most of all how important Unity is to the Lord for His church and How He has established His ways to accomplish His spiritual purposes for His people,  3 year journey with the Lord up until where He has me now but so much joy in seeing lives being changed  one thing that happened about 85% of the church left over 2 year period once I moved out in this direction with the Lord.

God is Good!  so much more to say it you would like to meet up we could talk so more about this.

Hi Marshall

We were meeting in 2 homes but have decided to combine to one home. We meet up in Raleigh. I used to be the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Raleigh but the Lord has lead me to meeting together where the meetings are participatory, celebrating the Lord's supper as a full meal and becoming a family of believers knowing The Lord's headship over His church and His Presence when we gather together as His body.

Yes very much Marshall. In fact I enjoy attending one in Shillong for the last two months. I find much joy and meaningful in this meeting and worship. I have been a member of a mainline church for 40 years. But due to my association with the poor in my country I am more at home in a simple church. I love this "little flock".

I currently pastor a house church near Salem called, Missionary Heart. I also know of several other simple church gatherings. There is a marked difference among many of the groups so it would really depend on what you are looking for. The groups range from home bible studies to fully functioning house churches with biblical elders and deacons. Also, there is great variation on the frequency that some of these groups meet. I would love to answer any specific questions you may have.

Dear Marshall,

Thanks for the question about a simple church in Shillong.

I can't say since I am not sure what you mean by simple church

It would be good to elaborate what is it

Hi. Yes, I do understand that faith without works is dead. I believe works are a result of faith. They're not done to gain God's approval, but as a result of our believing and the grace he has given us.

And yes, we have the mind of Christ. That doesn't mean we're going to agree on everything. And to say we should all agree on everything kind of throws up a red flag. I'm not willing to exclude brothers and sisters from denominations or other church groups that I may disagree with on some doctrinal issues. That is kind of cult-like to do so. Paul and the other Apostles didn't always agree on things.

Anyway, I didn't want to come here to debate. I wanted fellowship with other believers, not debate and arguing, and quite frankly it feels like I'm just being questioned her about what I believe. I don't quite have time for that. I'm working at Target and trying to get my freelance website design business off the ground, and at the same time just trying to find some fellow Christians to connect with. Perhaps this site isn't quite what I had hoped for, and in that case, I will be on my way.

I think I've found a great place where I will fellowship at anyway. Renovatus Church here in Charlotte appears to be a place where I can connect with some other believers and not waste my time debating over things.

2013 simply

It's been a year of some revelation in simple churches. Most significant and always, the revelation of Jesus Christ whom we cherish with "simplicity and purity of devotion." Among lesser revelations, the sometimes painfully obvious opportunities for maturity, and to loosening any white knuckled grip upon the old un-simple man-made methods or perspectives.

Simple dumps the complex psych, moral & social webs we used to be building or entangled with. When a man…

A Simple Adventure In Irony?

With simple church, as a movement, appearing to many today as to be narrowing or fading into space on a bookshelf... Have been reflecting in prayer; hopeful the legacy of simple church (and organic church) to not become the fusion by-products in a larger set of new micro-denominations. Questions surface; people asking along the lines of why simple hasn't been simply more? Why simple church doesn't grow everywhere like a miracle grown plant!?

When I visit a movement-inspired…

out of destruction

thru 7 years helping to parse a global prayer list, I've not before seen such a flood as has already come forward out of destruction this week in Oklahoma. Remembering also the ekklesia there; the saints of God One in Christ, carrying the compassionate and healing virtue of Christ in them; knowing the mystery of death and life; knowing the God was not in the wind; enabled to lift a world right-side-up.

Simple Failures?

What an awesome timeline slice we now live and work in!  While the nations rage and the pillars of long-established systems are crumbling, men everywhere being examined by God and His messengers for who is on the Lord's side?  It's a dynamic examination resulting in relatively fewer simple gatherings, and with disappointment among some who had hoped that simple church and smaller gatherings would become the next great wave of religious influence…
