Hi Ned,
I grew up a few miles north of Swanton, not far from where you live. My parents still live up there, so we are in the area several times a year (actually, we where just there a few days ago for Thanksgiving and the weekend).
Blessings,
Joe
Hi Sandy: Thanks for your comments. There still is a Chief Market in Wauseon, a nice friendly store. We are brand new to the Simple Church. We both have a varied background in the traditional church. I have been a member, staff person and a pastor…
Welcome Ned & Rita! I used to work at Chief Supermarket in Delphos and Van Wert....So I do know their is a Chief In Wauseon. Thats about ALL I know about that area!! lol. Nice to meet you :o)
Hi Ned,
Mark and I used to live in Ottawa Lake Mi. Our basketball team ( Whiteford) played the kids in Morenci.. Mark and I moved to Alpena, Mi. 7 years ago.
So what brings you and your wife to Simple Church? Mark and I, along with two other couples are starting a simple church which we call Simple Gathering. Reading lots of books. I would recommend highly, So You Don't Want to Go To Church Anymore? Not so much about the title as to what is "church" anyway. How are you going about forming a group of hungry believers? Love to hear from you. sue
Hi Ned and Rita,
You are a brave couple! It is different being in the ministry, salaried, opposed to just attending the church. It's been an interesting journey for us as well. Mark and I were saved at nearly the same time in 1974/75. We joined a fundamentalist church and there we remained for 12 years. We had five children, two were born before we accepted Jesus as our Savior. After 12 years of serious legalism my family was nearly dead. Finally, we saw the light, God led us to the book of Galatians and we escaped, moved an hour away and started the healing process. Our children eventually went to a Baptist Christian School and we did that for about 10 years. My eldest son was seemingly, hopelessly angry - 17years old now. That's another story, leave it to say God is a loving heavenly Father who loves deeply and stayed with our son. We left the Baptist church for a Seeker Friendly church, I would take anything FRIENDLY. My husband's job had us moving around, hence the different churches. Finally we ended up in northern Michigan at a Charismatic church. Here we learned about the Holy Spirit and His gifts to us, so we can do the ministry. Now I feel confident and ready to downsize and SIMPLIFY. I am learning how to make relationships around the presence of Jesus and accept what He has for me today, one day at a time. I did some detoxing too. Just kayaked on Sundays, met with friends for dinners, watched movies. If you are ever in the area stop by. We have a 'part time' bed and breakfast, but you are our friends and will be our GUESTS. http://soakingretreat.googlepages.com/home blessings sue

Hi again Ned and Rita,
Have you read the book I put in my post? As a pastor, would you be threatened by this book or take the other approach and warn others of it's heresy. Thanks for taking the time to answer. My the Father's presence be your dwelling place.Sue
