Hi Rick! Thanks for the comment/reply. Who do you know that you already hang out with that would maybe like hanging out and talking openly about God? Anybody? Thankfully we had some. Also, what we did was pray for connections and start taking walks in our neighborhood. We don't have neighborhood folks coming over yet, but life ain't over yet either!
I look forward to more dialogue as we make this journey of being and making disciples. I would recommend www.livewickmedia.com as a good resource. A 3 minute audio introduction will play automatically when you get there.
Talk to you later…

I am new to simplechurch website. Have not had much of a chance to look it over yet.
That's a saw, my friend! Welcome to the site. It's a terrific tool for connecting with folks. // Do you and your friends have a plan at all when you come together (for example, scripture everyone read beforehand)? Or, do you not plan at all? Which has been better in your experience?

Yeah, maybe it's time to update the photo - I was a lot skinnier then. Probably taken around 1991-92
As you can probably imagine, there is actually a really long story about the journey leading up to the actual start of our first house church. Our goal is to ultimately launch a network of house churches, but we are starting very slowly. To give you the extra, extra short version...I left an associate ministry position at a conventional church about a year ago to be a full-time teacher at a public middle school (7th grade). I had fallen into the trap of just "playing the game" with my "church job," and I knew I needed a change spiritually. Skipping many details between then and now, we started this house church with just one other family in our neighborhood, people that we met through our daughter's school.
