In a church with no formal support structure or "Pastors" who have been rigidly trained in the nuances of Christianity and where formal Christian education is not highly desired, how do we keep…Continue

Having read through many of the threads here, I have seen many discussions on the Simple church ideal and practical. What I am interested in here is a quiet comparative study of the Simple church,…Continue

Howdy living stones, Michael Childress says:It almost seems like many of us are attempting to have the last word on this matter and that seems moot to me. Hey Michael C., you got the last word until now;^D I know that in myself at times I have the…

I liked the greeting someone gave the other day, to the Branches: It almost seems like many of us are attempting to have the last word on this matter and that seems moot to me. As long as the conversation is civil, I recall God's invitation to…

howdy saints, Hey Michael, I probably have misunderstood, and perhaps will continue to misundertand you. I just don't see in this time of my walk with the Lord a need to take a form or pattern and apply it. For the record. I for one…

Deadly sins emotional sensitivity and concern for others. The truth will heighten awareness of the needs and desires of others, to deepen our understanding, sharpen and clarify the various problems or circumstances we have to deal with the truth…

Michael, I would see something similar as you, but adding liturgy not from day one. I would add it little by little with some discipleship. I would start out as simple as possible. Since the strength of the SC movement is its ability to reach…

indeed if we look back to the biblical lifestyle, especially about early church early and we compare it with the lifestyle of the church today we will find that the lifestyle of the church today is not in accordance with the style of early church…

From my perspective "Houses that change the World" by Wolfgang Simson does the best of showing how organic and house churches facilitate the 5 fold ministry. Part of what may cause confusion is that there is nothing in the N.T. that calls…

greetings branches, Dear Michael it *appears* that you are trying to convince folks that if their worship isn't liturgical, then it's not true. Again, the words of Jesus to the woman at the well, "the hour is coming, and NOW is, that…

What do you deserve?

Advertising today is amazing. Think about it, here is a group of smart people hired and paid big money to make you want to buy this or that product. These are people that know how to work that salesman charm and they know what makes you tick. So I follow advertising trends with interest. Want to know where Americans are at today? Watch the commercials. Which brings me to the meat of this post.

What do you deserve today? I am sure you have seen the commercials, you deserve a BMW, you… Continue

Losing My Religion

Why are we losing the battle for Jesus in America today? At whom do we point the finger for our failure to reach the masses here in this blighted country? I am not sure that we can really blame any one person but I think I have an idea of what is going on.

I call it the Taming of Jesus.

When we go to our local church we hear sweet stories about the God that will protect us and keep us from evil. How this Master will keep us safe and protected in harbors till our time to return… Continue

Love

Love

What an incredible feeling. The feeling that nothing else in the world really matters. We want to spend all our time with the one that we love. Holding hands, talking about everything under the sun, or again, being silent together sharing the most beautiful sunset in the world. All that matters is that we are together. Sharing our lives. Being. There are some that say that the first love is the only true love that we will have. Then again, maybe not. At least not in my life… Continue

The Ugly Duckling Christian

I am an Ugly Duckling Christian.

For the un-initiated let me explain. When God is doing serious work in our lives there may come a time when we can no longer present a facade, a mask to those around us. What we are is what you get. If we are having a bad day it shows, if we are happy we can not but help to share it with all those around us, and when we are emotional then the tears are there, ready to flow, for happy or sorrow. An Ugly Duckling Christian is not about apperances or looks, he… Continue

Well Greetings my brother,

How cool is this? Way cool! What a delight to see you here Robert. And you live in Washington. That's not too far from my turf. I've been away from the computer for awhile so I didn't know you sent me a "friend request." So...I welcome you brother with open arms and a glad heart. And brother, you have a lot here on your page already. I don't have the time now but I want to explore all that you have written here. I'm excited about what I'm seeing here brother.

And Robert, there is going to be a meeting in Los Vegas in November with Milt Rodriguez and Frank Viola and some other brothers. Perhaps we could meet there. I'm hoping to make it with some other brothers who live here in Crescent City. Will talk with you later.

In Christ's grip,

Clark
