Hey Steve,
I just couldn't pass this up. Love of money and blessings from God will be in conflict. Being blessed is not the same thing as pursuing these things above and beyond or instead of the Lord. The Lord gives good gifts. Losing one's life maybe something other than dealing with material things. I think it is more than that. Thanking God for providing material possessions is far different than revelling in them. He blessed Job, Joseph, Abraham, etc. Of course there were those whom suffered loss as well. But I think even Christ is receiving something material as well as spiritual. He will gain the world, the Lord will make it a footstool for Him. He, Christ will receive an inhertance, People, that is also physical, He recieved His glorified body which is both spiritual and physical. I think, with the help of Holy Spirit, we can enjoy both. Didn't Paul talk about those people who debased themselves of all comforts? thinking it would make them spiritual? Motive, Sonshine, motive. What is in the heart? If God gives, thank Him, if He stays His hand of such blessings, thank Him. Even Paul wrote, "I have learned to be content in abundance and in need." or something to that effect. I think we should learn gratitude in all things. At least, that is the ongoing lessons of my life, to date.
Love ya,
Lydia
True, however ARE believers being taught this?
If so, where is the evidence?
This isn't meant to elevate myself. It IS meant to state that "Hey, we believers DO in fact have lack in all areas. Do we fulfill the lack for one another though?"
Jesus said, "What you did to the least of these, my brethren, you did it to me."
I see needs, financial and psychological, NOT being met. I'm not necessarily talking about people we know of, but in the body of Christ in general as well.
Walking with someone through their debt issues, psychological issues, spiritual issues does function by the clock, although the Lord doesn't.
That's all I can say.
I see MASSIVE fear gripping people and they don't know what to do.
For us believers, WE need to be that Good Samaritan: Love in action, meeting needs.
My family an I work in Kenya with the nomadic Borana People.
The Borana's "Simple Church" will be transported on the back of their camels as they move from place to place.
