Not A Christian "Nice" Guy, being Good for Him

Latest Activity

Yes! The scene in the Mission when the slave trader dumped all his tools of the trade off the mountain---when he came to understand Redemption---best deliverance scene of all time. Makes me sob out loud every time!

The first thing that I believe men need to do is get to KNOW Jesus. Find out who he really is, and I'm not talking about the whole Jesus is God thing. Jesus is the new Adam, the template and model, a human 2.0. What it took for me was to read the fo…

If you really want to understand why MEN hate going to church, I suggest you read a book called "Why Men Hate Going To Church" by David Morrow. The author suggests that the IC become more "guy" friendly. I attempted to do what David suggested and ha…

Horror Movies

Well,
If your reading this, than you might be in for a shock. Even though it is the Christmas season of Joy and Peace, yeah right, I still watch Horror Movies.

I see horror as a great way to learn something about our "sinful" nature and what can happen when we give into our primal urges. In fact some of the most horrible human acts can be found in the Bible, which has been called "The Good News".

I just watched a movie called "The Signal" which is a three part story about what happens when all… Continue

Mr. Roger's Neighborhood

With the snowy weather here in Portland, it's not wise for us to go outside and I came upon Mr. Roger's Neighborhood on PBS this morning. Turns out that Sunday morning is the only time it is on now.

It was wonderful to sit with two of my daughters and share a memory and lesson from a man who I would like to be like.
How he was able to bring God to light in a show whithout being "preachy" or condensending to anyone.

Today's show was about how we use the alphabet to make words like "love" and "f… Continue

Poetry

Before I blogged on the internet, I kept a journal, real paper and pen. I threw out the stuff that was not who I was anymore and had kept some pages that showed who I was becoming.
These are some poems that I wrote about 20 years ago :

When God calls, it seems that you jump at the chance to serve Him.
But He teaches to be patient.
That all will come in His good timing.
you are not meant to know, but God will tell you when.
He guides you.
He love you.
He is patient.
You must wait
He will tell y… Continue

Moments of Peace

My eldest girl, Suzy, is sick today. I'm in avodance mode on clean up for Thanksgiving. I'm off bus work til next Tues and feeling the holiday stress.

But I just heard Suzy humming "Silent Night". Somethng about a young girl's hum is soothing right now.

Feel that I can get back to work.

I feel peacefilled because of that hum.

Fear Not

Why is there so much fear amongst Christians these days.
I thought that the wars and the terrible things that are happing in the world are the signs that Jesus is nearly back.
I was one of the people that bought into the "Left Behind" series, until the last book and I kept thinking," Maybe I should have just read Revelations". Why am I fearing "The End". Isn't that supposed to make everything right again?

Here is a definition of fear as found on Dictionary.com:

1. a distressing emotion aroused… Continue

Hey brother Steve,

Awhile back you mentioned to me about posting something about "prophecy" in the meetings on a separate post regarding SC in practice. Anyway brother, I just got something up there and thought you might like to check it out. Hopefully, we'll be seeing some interesting activity and maybe some fresh thinking on this topic.

And Steve, it looks like you have some interesting things going on here, so I'll be back to read more of what our Lord is doing in your life.

Blessings,

Clark

My name is Dana Cashwell and I along with my husband Travis, my three kids, Cameron 6 (she's a girl), Madeline 4 and Thomas 3 we left the church 2 years ago to BE the Church. The problem was we didn't know how to do it. Travis and I grew up in church so when we explained to our family, friends and church what God wanted us to do, the majority of them considered us apostates and heretics. Don't get me wrong, they loved us in their way, they just didn't support us.

A year ago, along with some of the friends we had left, started something called So What! Ministries (shameless plug: www.sowhatministries.com). Which was all about getting people off their butt and serving their community/church/family. Then we read Pagan Christianity. Mainly because George Barna was listed as an author. After reading it, we devoured everything that Frank Viola has written because he put on paper what we were going through and what to do about it. We're in the process now of revamping and updating everything.

I felt like I was wandering in the wilderness for 2 years searching for the promised land; thank God I finally found it!

Not content to merely turn Portland upside down? Well then, Steven, brother, so may Father continue to direct and secure you. "What does it mean to have a Government that is By The People, For The People?" Will be reading... "Father, thank you for filling Steven's heart with Your power to tweak out much other stuff."
