ded replied to Matt and Jen Berglund's discussion 'Get together in Apex - Walden Creek' in the group North Carolina Connections
If Apex were not three hours away, would definitely take you up on this. We pass near Apex visiting my wife's folks in Clayton. Maybe sometime we could meet for coffee and connect in the spirit of Christ.

To get to know me better...

Every person's life takes on a theme. The greatest theme of all is the depth of God's love revealed in Jesus. As one submits and moves into God's heart, a common theme is discovered: there is a maturity of love for which a person individually reaches, and that maturity blossoms in the story we live together.

Edwards, Whitefield, Finney and Love

Most folks reading this essay will recognize the name of Jonathan Edwards in connection with the Great Awakening of the 18th century. Add to his name that of George Whitefield and eighty years after these two, the name of Charles Finney. Together these three largely shaped the heritage and practice of evangelism prevailing in the 20th century American church.

Through Jonathan Edwards’s ministry, the emoting of deep repentance as response to a message of fire and brimstone, including… Continue

Hey David,
There are a bunch of pictures on my page -- the more "senior"looking ones are Steve and me, then there are some of our kids, and a few taken in Tennessee with our youngest son and his five. We have twelve grandkids...our son Matt (a big picture of him is on my page, grinning like a big kid) is really on fire for God and the best church we have is with him and his family!
Steve will be writing you soon, he is making up a science test right now (this year he teaches science AND social studies)

SimpleChurch? I thought this was SteepleChurch.com... Aw, man! Oh, well. Let me look around a little bit. Maybe the Lord will "chip" a little more of the old man off me here.

Weekends are fine with me. We were just up in Boone last Sunday to pick up my wife's teenage daughter who was there for a cheerleading camp. Wow! What a neat town Boone is. I got a chuckle because we were walking downtown and were in the middle of the World Peace parade. Hmmm. Interesting group to say the least. I wouldn't mind driving up to Boone if that works better for you (of course it all depends on the gas situation - our stations are empty here right now). It can be either guys and gals or just guys; I'll let you decide That way I don't get in trouble cuz it was your idea. :)

David:

Saturday the 4th sounds good. I'll check with my honey to make sure. When I was driving through Lenoir, I noticed a new Fatz Cafe was opening up on October 1. I'll eat just about anywhere though, so if you get a referral to any other place, that will be fine. Your home group sounds a lot like the one we had back in Idaho; 3-4 families meeting to share a meal, communion, worship, read God's word, etc.
