To get to know me better...

Every person's life takes on a theme. The greatest theme of all is the depth of God's love revealed in Jesus. As one submits and moves into God's heart, a common theme is discovered: there is a maturity of love for which a person individually reaches, and that maturity blossoms in the story we live together.

Edwards, Whitefield, Finney and Love

Most folks reading this essay will recognize the name of Jonathan Edwards in connection with the Great Awakening of the 18th century. Add to his name that of George Whitefield and eighty years after these two, the name of Charles Finney. Together these three largely shaped the heritage and practice of evangelism prevailing in the 20th century American church.

Through Jonathan Edwards’s ministry, the emoting of deep repentance as response to a message of fire and brimstone, including noticeable… Continue

I must be getting senile as I thought for sure I had responded back to you. Sorry to hear that your group isn't doing as well as before, but I've learned that these groups seem to have their seasons. I hope your isn't the result of internal strife. I've been through that before and it isn't easy.

Can't remember if I told you, but the Lord laid on my heart a few months ago to start feeding some homeless guys at a day shelter here in Hickory. I go down on Sundays with my grill and cook burgers and hot dogs for about 40-50. With the weather getting warmer, I suspect there will be more. It has truly been a blessing to me. I've had some wonderful encounters there as well as some spiritual challenges.

Hey David!

Howzit going? Just thought I'd touch bases with you as you were on my heart today for some reason. We're doing great down here in Hickory. Our little fellowship of believers is still meeting regularly each week. We've had some contact with a couple of other groups that are meeting in this area.

I've decided to move back to Maui in July. My wife is very excited as I've only taken her there to visit my family and she would love to live there.

I hope you guys are doing well in the hinterlands of Boone.

God bless.

Hey David,
We have been enjoying the coffee tremendously. Thank you so much for facilitating our coffee breaks. We did have an outrageously joyous Christmas with all four of our grandchildren here as well as our daughter who had been in Ireland since August. Congratulations on your elevation to "grandhood". Hope all is well with your wee ones and their parents. We have been sick with some flu-like illness which has put the assembling of ourselves together on hold for a while. Perhaps when we are all back to normal we can have you and Freda (and Lisa?) over for a potluck and"fellowship of the fork". I continue to enjoy your blog entries!

How about eleven-ish? My cell phone number is 828.260.0800 in case there is a problem. Meet in the parking lot near Boone Drugs entrance to Earth Fare?

Wow! That was fast! I don't mind driving to Boone to pick up the order since I need to get a few things at Earth Fare this week anyway. What time is good for you? Since you are doing me a favor by procuring the coffee, I will adjust my schedule according to your preference. My entire day just happens to be open due to a cancellation of plans.

I think I will wait until next time to order a case. I am actually not drinking very much coffee these days. Seems my brain doesn't handle it well since the accident and I have several bags in my freezer. Can you let me know the next time your order? Is it possible to order anything else on their website? Like the drinking chocolate? If so I would love to order that. Thanks so much!

Hi, Thanks for the opportunity to order coffee. The ethiopian blend looks good to me and also the mexican coffee. Either or both if I can only order one bag each. The site looks like a case is the minimum? If so I guess I would order a case of one but not both. Please let me know how you followed up. Thanks again!
