Most folks reading this essay will recognize the name of Jonathan Edwards in connection with the Great Awakening of the 18th century. Add to his name that of George Whitefield and eighty years after these two, the name of Charles Finney. Together these three largely shaped the heritage and practice of evangelism prevailing in the 20th century American church.

Can't remember if I told you, but the Lord laid on my heart a few months ago to start feeding some homeless guys at a day shelter here in Hickory. I go down on Sundays with my grill and cook burgers and hot dogs for about 40-50. With the weather getting warmer, I suspect there will be more. It has truly been a blessing to me. I've had some wonderful encounters there as well as some spiritual challenges.
Howzit going? Just thought I'd touch bases with you as you were on my heart today for some reason. We're doing great down here in Hickory. Our little fellowship of believers is still meeting regularly each week. We've had some contact with a couple of other groups that are meeting in this area.
I've decided to move back to Maui in July. My wife is very excited as I've only taken her there to visit my family and she would love to live there.
I hope you guys are doing well in the hinterlands of Boone.
God bless.
We have been enjoying the coffee tremendously. Thank you so much for facilitating our coffee breaks. We did have an outrageously joyous Christmas with all four of our grandchildren here as well as our daughter who had been in Ireland since August. Congratulations on your elevation to "grandhood". Hope all is well with your wee ones and their parents. We have been sick with some flu-like illness which has put the assembling of ourselves together on hold for a while. Perhaps when we are all back to normal we can have you and Freda (and Lisa?) over for a potluck and"fellowship of the fork". I continue to enjoy your blog entries!
Sure, like you, I hope these connections will produce fruit!
