Silence (a Poem for your consideration)
Silence:
Chains around my neck
Silent weights break my back
Silence screams
Close your eyes believe the lies
Open your mouth and you will die
Silence
This world screams
Complacency
While babies die
Divorce steals
Childhood fades
Religion conceals
Silence
Wraps its chains around you
Whispers in your ears
Silence
Has found you
Closed your eyes
Tighter its noose around our lives
Silence
As families disappear
Silence
As darkness draws near
Like a gathering storm
An army upon our silent mouths grown
Lies built like a tower of Babylon
Never opened our mouths to crush it down
Silence
Rages war
Silent war
Behind closed doors
Shame dictates
Desecrates
Goodness
Silence how you crushed me
Had your victory
Can no longer press me
Into silent resistance
My testimony is sure
Silence no more
Silence no more
