My Simple Faith

Here's my Simple Faith Statement... I think it fits well with desiring a simple Church.

Jesus Is Lord!

  • Jesus reigns in my life through the Holy Spirit who lives in and through me.
  • I am united with Jesus, and my selfish (sinful) ways died on the cross with Him, they no longer direct my…

The "Mother of All Reads" - Trust me....read it!

To my friends, family, and saints of God,
Most of you know, that at times, I tend to be "passionate" about the things of God. I admit I am guilty of such accusation. I do not apologize. I thank God that He has given me a tender and passionate heart. It keeps me sensative to His moving in me and about. I bless Him and honor Him…

Brought Near By The Blood

"But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:13)

For many years, I have heard disciples of Jesus tell those who are struggling or just desiring a closer walk with Him, "Read your bible, pray, keep going to church, put on praise music and go do something for someone else. That will bring you closer to the Lord." Let me get right at it, this directly contradicts His word spoken through His apostles and prophets!

Getting…

March 2nd is election day!

As an immigrant, for whom this Tuesday's Primary election is the first election where I have been allowed to vote, it seems very important to me that we take the political process seriously. It is said of politics that "we get the leadership that we deserve." I wonder what you make of our current political stalemate.

Let me make some comments as someone who has paid very little attention to the American political process until recently. First, I should point out that President…

Love is the fulfillment of the law

Romans 13 v. 8-10

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMITT ADULTERY,YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, YOU SHALL NOT STEAL, YOU SHALL NOT COVET," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the… Continue

From Him, Through Him, and To Him

Romans 11v.33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom & the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments & unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again? For from Him & through Him & to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

I love this!… Continue

Infrastructure: Getting the DNA Right

Over the past two of these e-letters, I have begun exploring the question of “What is the infrastructure that enables the Holy Spirit to create movement.” Now don’t get me wrong! God can do things however He wants, and I suspect that is exactly what He does. But He does appear to choose to work through human messengers and using societal framework in many instances. We…

Can any believer baptize?

One of the issues continuing to resurface again and again in our church planting is whether or not individual believers (disciples) can baptize those whom they have led to Christ. The vast majority of evangelicals in Ecuador hold to the notion that only recognized (ordained) pastors, and missionaries are authorized to perform baptisms.

Was this Jesus intent when he gave us the Great Commission?

Were his commands to go,… Continue

A Hymn to God the Father

John Donne (1572 - 1631)

Wilt thou forgive that sin where I begun,

Which was my sin, though it were done before?

Wilt thou forgive that sin, through which I run,

And do run still, though still I do deplore?

When thou hast done, thou hast not done,

For I have more.

Wilt…

MY HEART FOR HAITI

The recent earthquake in Haiti has shaken my heart and unearthed many memories. At age eighteen I had never seen the mountains or the ocean; in fact, I had hardly been out of Illinois! Yet, I boarded a plane heading for Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, on a medical mission.…

Times of Prayer

Times of Prayer 51

Durban, South Africa is a popular holiday destination because of its lovely beaches. Every year there are other attractions and the things that interest the locals are the sardine and the shad runs. The sardines leave the colder waters during winter and migrate to the warmer water in the east coast. They are followed by great number of game fish including the shad. Enthusiasts literally fish side by side as the shad go on a feeding frenzy. Sometimes I like to go fishing… Continue

Prayer Request

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Greetings loved ones. On Friday I posted “Times of Prayer” and expressed how I encouraged myself in the Lord after our place of fellowship was broken into and our equipment being stolen. On Friday night we had a further break in and the ones responsible literally vandalised the place.

Windows were broken, the curtains were torn, the flags were pulled out, table cloths and communion trays destroyed, library books that we were collecting for a needy school… Continue

Experiences with God

I will start at the point in my life when I realized that God has had me in His hand since I was known to exist.

May 1994 I was operated on for by-pass surgery. I was sent ot ICU recovery, It was 13 hours later and I had not been able to return to functioning life. My body would not function and every time they turned the machines that were keeping my body functioning I would lose all life activities. My wife finally quit waiting and came into my room. She tolld the doctor and nurses… Continue

My thoughts on health care reform

I don't tend to add much here on this site about my ordinary work, but I thought that some of you might like to see the article by me that was published today in the Austin On-Line newspaper.

Clear Differences between Mormonism and Christianity.

The Error of Mormonism

By Tal Davis

"But they use words just like ours: gospel, savior, atonement, virgin birth. In fact, don't they also baptize by immersion, send out missionaries, and talk about the gospel? It seems that their view of salvation is just like Baptists and other evangelicals! Isn't…

The Belly of the Whale!

The wonderful thing about the Scriptures is how they come alive when read with anointed eyes & hearts! As is the nature of our Heavenly Father He is Merciful always and truthful ESPECIALLY when he chastises those whom He loves.

This seems to be the case now for so many in the world who struggle with God and Nature and the "Prince of the air". I am a mother of four lovely children, a hairdresser by trade, but as the case with many widows no one but God to help us. I say…

Times of Prayer

Times of Prayer 50

Warm greetings of love and peace in the precious name of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. Like many of the fellowships in our suburb, we meet at a school hall. Over the years we have been victims of theft where all of our equipment was stolen. We had a break in recently and all the stuff that we thought was securely locked away were stolen. We have an added responsibility in now replacing windows and asbestos sheetings that were removed to enter the room.

I had to… Continue

SPIRITUAL - KNOWLEDGE PUFFS UP

What a blessing it is to converse with brothers and sisters in Jesus about our walk with Him. Yet, we frequently stifle one another in doing so. I observed an example of this only a few days ago when I…
