On being an orchestra

When she comes together, the functioning body of Christ is like an orchestra, with the Holy Spirit acting as the conductor. The richness of a symphony occurs because all of the different instruments in the orchestra play the melody assigned to them. If we all play the same tune in church, we miss out on the magnificent creativity of the bride of Christ.

But…

Hagaai's Message to the 21st Century American Church

Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins?

- the Lord Almighty through the prophet Haggai (NLT)

A couple of years ago while raising a young family in Alaska, I found myself reading a pamphlet on finances and poverty that cited Haggai. I pulled out the Book and opened to Haggai. The Lord made His Word in Haggai come alive to me that night. The condensed version of Haggai’s message is simply “Build my house, and I’ll build…

Register your Homeschool

I learned if I registered my homeschool with the school board, I get the same benefits as the schools do. Yes, they do look at my child's progress, but it is always good to be accountable. After all, the kids come first. The local boards can be very helpful and informative.

John White shares about listening to God

John White talks a lot about listening to God. A few days ago I briefly interviewed him to hear some his thoughts (and, to be strictly honest, to experiment with the technology.) But what he shared is so good, I thought I would add it so you all can benefit.

A Dream About the United States

In light of recent events , I have been reminded of a dream I had June 7, 2009. In the dream I saw the United States as a puzzle board, like the kind some of us had when we were kids where we would start with an empty board that had the outline of the United states. Our parents would help us put all the states on the puzzle board until we had the continental 48 states.

In this dream, I saw the United States in the form of a puzzle as mentioned above, I then saw states begin to…

SPIRITUALITY - HIS KINGDOM OF CHOSEN PEOPLE

My husband Gary and I recently had the opportunity to go to Ireland for two weeks. We were invited by a couple whom we met at a Searching Together conference last summer. We thought it’d be a nice opportunity, but assumed that it wasn’t affordable. Consequently, for some time, we didn’t give it much more thought. However, it seemed that almost simultaneously, the Lord began to…

Disciple?

Remember, there is a passion for souls that does not come from God!”

~Oswald Chambers~

I have to confess, this statement by Oswald Chambers hit me like a board when stepping on the opposite end! If you have the book, “My Utmost For His Highest,” you will find this statement on the October 27th page. This is so true. I think so much of our ‘soul-winning’ is to bring people into the local church. Let’s face it; most people…

Other ways God speaks

The past few posts (find more on my blog www.simplychurch.com) have described the different ways that God may speak to us as individuals and some of the criteria we have for evaluating what we have heard.

Other ways in which God may guide include our circumstances. How often God speaks through the situation we may find ourselves in. The apostle Paul ministered in Rome because he was in prison there. An example: recently part…

The Toy Story...

To those of you who haven’t seen the movie called, “Toy Story,” let me share a little about it and then we’ll look at how it parallels the Gospel. This movie, which was released in the 90’s, was the first computer animated cartoon to be released my Pixar. It’s a story about toys that are actually alive. They…

When others advise us

Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where there is no counsel the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” God often uses what other people say to us to speak to us. Sometimes we will go to them to ask their advice and we do well to seek the counsel of those who are wise in the ways of God. Sometimes the other person has no idea that they are saying something that has the potential to change our lives. …

Kingdom advancing apostolic prayer 2

KINGDOM ADVANCING APOSTOLIC PRAYER 2

THE PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN

Prayer can never be substituted with anything else because it displays our very dependence on Father God. I know that throughout the world many people are given to prayer and intercession and their intentions are good. I thank God that He is revealing to His church greater dimensions of prayer as we grow in maturity.

Christian baptism, what is it for ? and what shall we receive?

As the subject of who should baptize came up I was reminded of what baptism is for. In Acts 2:38 Peter tells the people to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So baptism is a sign of repentance and obediance , but more importantly it is the normative way in which we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! I say normative because God poured out the Spirit on that day and those that received it were given the authority to pass it on to…

God speaks through spiritual gifts

God also uses the other spiritual gifts to communicate with us. Gifts such as words of knowledge or words of wisdom come to mind. These occur when God drops a piece of information or an idea into our minds that we would have no natural way of knowing.

One example comes from Tony’s days as a doctor in London. One day, a patient who was the wife of a local pastor…

Bones Have Value!!!

Here’s something God showed me :

When the passover lamb was sacrificed , ” not a bone was to be broken ” .Exo 12:46 It shall be eaten in one house. You shall not carry any of the flesh out of the house. Neither

shall you break a bone of it.

When the Lamb of God was sacrificed on the cross , “not a

bone was broken “ Joh 19:33 But when they came to

Jesus and they saw that He was already…

Sign of the times

I have been meditating about the circumstances that are occuring in this physical world and seeking the spiritual world meanings. Thursday March 18 I spent about 3 hours listening to a friend and prophetic teacher who lives and ministers in Israel. He made some very important points that confirmed some of the things God has given me recently. I try to avoid saying God said but there are some signs and things that must be said. He pointed out that God is getting upset and tired of His people…

If Martin Luther lived today

I just re-read Martin

Luther's 95 Thesis
. I just realized that this trigger point of the protestant reformation was

basically around one issue described in 95 points or sentences. Indulgences

was the main issue Martin Luther wanted to start a dialog around. I used to think it was 95 separate issues of concern.

So I wonder...… Continue

FIRST LOVE...

I don’t think we as Christians can fathom the love our savior has for us. Paul says in Eph. 3:19 that it ‘passes our knowledge.’ WOW! That’s a huge love! It’s a love so big that we cannot wrap our minds around it. It’s a love so big that it causes us to want to love BACK instantly once we have been exposed to it! When the Father reveals His love to a person, the first thing we do is ‘love Him back!’ It’s come easy and without effort. Our love (which is His love in us) is released… Continue
