Persecution Arises

Last night my husband and I received a phone call from the hotel manager of one of the short-term teams. He told me the police had been at the hotel and had arrested 3 boys on the team. Luckily after six hours they were released and in the middle of the night we sent the whole team to a safe location. We realized in the midst of panic... we must be doing something right because this is biblical!

Our teams and interns have been out sharing in the city for the past 4 weeks and are seeing… Continue

Social media and simple/organic church

I've been reading a book recently called "Trust Agents; Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation and Earn Trust" by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith. I would have downloaded a picture of the book but my technological…

MY FATHER AND I

It was 3:00 AM when my brother burst in to my dorm room with the news that my father had been killed in a plane crash. My father was an apostle in function, planting churches wherever He went, but unrecognized in a church organization that did not believe they existed anymore. His plane went down in Homer Alaska…

LIFESTYLE - THE GRAVES OF THE RIGHTEOUS

Memories of Memorial Day festivities have been flittering through my mind: picnics, playing in the park, splashing in the lake, and endless games of baseball with siblings and cousin. However, before any of that took place, we always made trips to several cemeteries. Although we barely had enough money for groceries, Momma always made sure that the grave sites of…

Insecurity in Church Movements...

Can’t we all just get along! This expresses how I feel so many times when I read what people write about the church and others get their two cents worth in how they think. I am all for a free thinking society, but we cannot lose sight of where the real battle lies. Neil Cole ,in the below suggested article, uses…

The Touch that Transforms...

I stopped by my Grand Mother’s house today to pick up some flowers she wanted us to have. Granny Hobbs is 91 now and for as long as I can remember she has given everything away. My daughter asked me, “Why is she giving us that stuff?” Well she also included a case of Yoohoo, Sunny D and cookies. I told my daughter, “Granny Hobbs came into this world with nothing and she will leave with nothing”, and she will… Continue

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

The Bible talks about rewarding us for the simple giving of a cup of cold water, isn’t that amazing.

Then, when we come to the New Testament, we find that the rewards and the

commands are very definite things like looking after widows and…

John White on women in leadership (part 2)

My apologies! I've had the scheduling of my blog posts on simple church mixed up, so two have been appearing on the same day for the last few posts. Put it down to becoming a grandmother again twice in one week! This one is now timed to come out on the same day as my regular blog site on www.simplychurch.com.

Here is the second part of John White's talk on women in leadership.…

The poor in spirit...

Matthew 5:3 NKJV

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Here are some things that I believe I have discovered about the "poor in spirit".

  • They have a self-renouncing love.
  • The aren't at home here. Matthew 5:3
  • The world cannot by them.
  • They have taken up their cross. Matthew 16:24
  • They are following Jesus wherever He leads them. Matthew 16:24
  • They are blessed. Matthew 5:3
  • Their…

Happy Pentecost!

Shalom!

Every day is a gift from the Father, but today is a special day for His children! Last night began the fourth of God's seven appointed times, or mo'edim in Hebrew. This day is commonly referred to by Christians as "pentecost" which is a Greek word meaning Fifty count. In Hebrew it is Shavu'ot, or "weeks". We see it in Leviticus, Acts & other books as well.

Lev 23…

response to email regarding simple church multiplication

Hey Guys, great convo going on!

In terms of multiplication, I’m not sure how much it is really the result of developing a strategy as much as it is positioning ourselves to hear a God-inspired strategy and then faithfully responding…which is local in method, geographically unique, specific in timing, and/or both more radical and mundane than what we would develop or chose…

The Basics

Just wanted to share one of my favorite scripture readings, one that keeps me on my toes!! Gen 4: 6 & 7

We all face dissappointments on a regular basis, however we need to learn from Cain! If we allow these dissappointments to affect us negatively as he did then the warning is clear from vs 7 - 'sin is crouching at the door and its desire is to consume us,' we however must master the temptation and we will be victorious and see the deliverance of our God.

Blessings to all…

Ambassadors of the Kingdom

A few weeks ago, our Fellowship bought some bright red tee shirts and had "LET'S PRAY!" printed on them in large black letters as a means to witness and to show forth our concern for our city when we're out and about or on specific missions.

As soon as the tornadoes and flash floods subsided…

What can men do to set women free?

What part can the men play in this? If this is just a movement of women, it will by default become a feminist movement. This is not what we want. However, if the men will join is in promoting women and encouraging them to take their place alongside them on the frontlines, it will become a Kingdom movement. Where are the men who will join us?

On the few occasions when we speak on this subject, we find women coming up to us in tears, deeply hurt by the attitude of the church towards… Continue

John White on women in leadership

I was talking with a group of women friends the other day and we were discussing how many men we know between us who are actively training and promoting women into leadership. The number is sadly very small. John White is one of those who is doing this. He is actively seeking for women apostolic leaders and working with them via his www.lk10.com site. I asked him to create a video talking about his views and why they have changed over the… Continue

Ramblings from the heart - INTIMACY

My Lord and I ..

Spent some time together this morning and I wanted to pass this along.

Intimacy never diminishes. It builds up. It values personhood, recognizes roles, and thrives on relational oneness. Intimacy allows bonds of friendship and

oneness without demanding uniformity. It

keeps in mind distinctive roles without the loss of camaraderie.

To be intimate with Father, Son and Spirit is the ability to…
