Summer vacation prep

I just ordered a series of the books you have recommended - getting ready for my time off - and I am looking forward to some down time, think time, fishing time and most of all Sharon (my wife) time. Last couple of weeks listening to Wolfgang's presentations when he was in Spokane 2005 - listened several times again, to absorb them. Greatly challenged about the financial/work side of things. New concepts to consider there. Will be off the grid for a few weeks and will be back to interact some… Continue

What are our church meetings like?

People in the Raleigh area occasionally email me and ask if they can meet with our church. Of course, anyone is welcomed to meet with us. Sometimes, they ask me, "What are your church meetings like? What should I expect?"

Well, I recently met Jon. We had lunch together, and last Sunday he met with us. I asked him if he would tell me about his time with us. I told him that I would like to post it on my blog (before I received his description). So, this is what Jon said about meeting… Continue

A MESSAGE TO THE SIMPLE CHURCH

"THE POWER OF THE WEB"

by Michael Tummillo

Many within the ranks of the Simple Church have been impacted by a book called “The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations.” It’s a great book with a message that has resonated with many – including myself - within the movement. Worth reading! Basically, the premise of the book is this: If you squash a spider’s head, the spider’s dead. If you cut off an appendage of a starfish, not only will it grow… Continue

Camping...

Just got back from a weekend of camping. We had lots of fun. There were about 40 people there…friends. Even though we had fun, camping can be very hard on the human body (when you aren’t used to it). We spend two nights under the stars. It was a very hot weekend….95+. I made a comment to my wife, JOY, that I don’t see how people camp out for a week. Can you imagine fighting bugs and the heat for a week. Then as I was thinking more about what I said, I thought about the children of Israel who… Continue

The Endorsement of Your Life

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

Over the weekend, the most famous pitchman in America passed away. Billy Mays was the king of infomercials, having made a name for himself by passionately extolling the virtues of numerous household products. Before any of us knew Billy’s name we knew him by the products he represented. We would often refer to him as the Oxi-Clean guy or the Mighty Putty guy. We knew Billy, not for who he was, but instead what he represented. Billy knew… Continue

According to His Purpose

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given… Continue

Soar On His Wings by Robert Ricciardelli

www.vision2advance.com

God has tremendous purpose and original intent for all of His people! To dwell with them, and bring revelation of Himself through them to the world. This is no surprise to those of us who have made the choice to love God with all of our heart soul and mind, and love our neighbors and all the Lord brings our way abundantly. These two pillars of our faith are the foundation for everything we do in life. First things first, love God, for it is out of the abundance… Continue

Making Disciples

Felicity and I are spending this weekend in Winnsboro, TX with Dan and Laurel Hubbell. They have two young Africans staying with them for six weeks, so that they can pour their lives into these two who in turn will live out what they are learning within the churches that they lead in Africa. Six weeks to help just two people. And that includes opening up your home, your marriage, your finances ( to help cover costs of travel from Africa and looking after two extra for meals, etc.). No gimmicks,… Continue

ARE WE JUST AN INSTITUTIONAL CHURCH IN SMALL PACKAGES?

ARE WE JUST AN INSTITUTIONAL CHURCH IN SMALL PACKAGES?

The IC will not miss the Holy Spirit because of their programs, the Home Church will not miss the programs from the IC but can not exist without the Holy Spirit.

Just as oil and water do not mix, neither will programs and the Holy Spirit coexist together. What are programs? Any activity that distracts us from fully being involved with the Holy Spirit.

Lets look at this picture of a first century… Continue

NATIONALISM - THE COST OF FREEDOM

The 4th of July is the most treasured national holiday in the United States. Independence Day celebrations are considered to be a yearly reminder of the cost of America’s freedoms. Yes, freedom comes at a high price and so does the cost of celebrating!

According to the American Pyrotechnic Association, 213 million pounds of fireworks were sold in 2008 at a cost of $940 million dollars! http://www.americanpyro.com/press/facts/Fireworks%20Industry%20Revenue%2098-08.pdf

Linda's Journal - June 25, 2009

Thursday, June 25, 2009

During my “Daniel” study time yesterday morning I found myself staring out of the window, pondering the current status of my life and emotions. This season of time has been VERY difficult for me mentally and emotionally and as I thought about the times when it appeared to be easy it made me wonder why. It is almost as if, when it was easy, that God himself was holding, shielding and giving me everything I needed to get through each day and I sailed… Continue

The New Declaration Of Church Independence

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the spiritual bands which have connected them with another, and to assume, among the church, the separate and equal station to which the Bible and God Himself entitle them, our mutual respect requires that we should declare the causes which coerce us to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal; that they are endowed, by their Creator, with… Continue

What God says about the IC

I can't stand your religious meetings. I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public elations and image making. I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me? Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it. I want fairness—rivers of it. That's what I want. That's all I want.

Every Day is Father's Day! by Robert Ricciardelli

Every Day is Father's Day! www.vision2advance.com

Happy Fathers day! As I reflect this day that we celebrate our natural fathers, I must reflect in the revelation of our heavenly Father. Fathers should be honored every day and every moment, but thankful that society gives us a day of reflection for fathers. Our heavenly Father set a standard for all fathers in His desire to impart His nature, His love, and His never ending desire to dwell with His children through redemption, and… Continue

Do We Need An Interpreter?

An honest question for SimpleChurch folk.

Anyone who has ever been on a mission trip to a region of the world where English is not spoken, probably has been obliged to rely on the help of an interpreter who understands both English and the local language of the people you wish to minister the Word of God. People everywhere want to hear God speak to them "in their own tongue". That's one reason why the work of Bible translation and especially Wycliffe Bible Translators for many… Continue

Just Make Disciples (tm)

I'm tired of gimmicks, mottos, slogans, mission statements. Why can't we just make disciples? In fact, I think that will be my new motto: "Just Make Disciples".

I shared this idea with a few friends, and they were all very excited about the idea of spending time with one another - discipling one another - helping one another live our lives in conformity with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging others to do the same.

One of my friends has a t-shirt printing business.… Continue

Get Your Praise On

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

This morning as my wife and I were out for our morning walk, we found ourselves talking about praise. Praise is such a critical component in our relationship to God, because it acknowledges who He is. For example:

Revelation 4:8 (NASB)

And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, is THE LORD GOD,…

What is WORSHIP & PRAISE.

WORSHIP & PRAISE.

A thing I want to share is how we think the noise that we offer in church is spirit worship when it is just soul praise or even less.

You raise your hands as if it is worship, but to do this in the wrong spirit you are doing the same thing that the buddhists or hindus or muslims do. It is not a spiritual act, but psychic, fleshly, really satanic act! You are loosing yourself mentally like one does in yoga. But raise your hands to minister to the FATHER knowing… Continue

How I Pray

MY PERSONAL PRAYER OVER THE YEARS HAS BEEN:

“Father, I give you the keys to my house. Search me and show me my hidden rooms of sin. I give you all my hidden desires, the keys to all my doors, so show me my hidden desires, and please send Your Holy Fire FATHER to burn out all my dross, that I might be a channel of purity. Let me see as YOU SEE, and let my heart beat as YOU HEART BEATS, let my mind be renewed to become more like YOUR MIND, let me hear what you are saying so that I can… Continue
