Lessons from Dad: Part 3
I would like to continue speaking about the character lessons I have learned from my Father. These are lessons that I hope you will pass on to your children. These lessons are essential truths that are vital to your child or children’s future well being.
I have learned the value of money from my Father. My father grew up on a farm. He had very little growing up. I recall the stories of how hard it was on him and his family growing up on the…

Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. (2Co 13:11 ESV)
I've found myself in a place these past few years were I can't find any peace within the walls of church. It seems that all the churches I've attended have a social structure that I find it difficult to conform to.
I wasn't always at odds with this way of Christian life. When I got saved I was in…

The following interview was done by Chad Crawford over at Homebrewed Christianity. In it, I speak about the kingdom of God a bit.
Next week, I’ll be blogging about the kingdom in a more focused way. And I’ll be taking dead aim at the present “kingdom vs. church” fad … where the kingdom is pitted against the church.
Note to all blog readers: This Friday is going to be open-phones. So stayed tuned!
Tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday, I’ll let you all know when the…

Kingdom Confusion: Part II
I’d like to continue our series on “Kingdom Confusion” as promised. You can read Part I on this page.
In this post, I wish to address a somewhat popular cliché that I think misses the mark on what the New Testament (NT) teaches concerning the kingdom of God.
Here’s the cliché: “Jesus mentioned the church only twice; but he mentioned the kingdom over 100 times. So He really doesn’t care about the church as much as He does the…

2. Simply changing the structure or location of the church, however, ....is not an end in itself. God... wants a body of people dependent on Him...........p. 34

4. The next two chapters describe the importance of being able to hear God's voice, the discipline of prayer, and the image of the church as a family. Simply reproducible describes the actual format of a simple church meeting as taken from Acts 2:42. A discussion, not a sermon or teaching, on a text, food, fellowship and prayer are the key elements described as well as the importance of following the Spirit's leading. This can often be discovered by asking participants what God is saying to them…

This book is the next installment int he journey of evaluating the organic church/house church idea, with the research leading to informing my network about the idea, and to the end of deciding if the Lord is leading us to use this model for the next wave of church planting in my world. What follows are some impressions and thougths about the book.
1. I liked the size of the book. The physical dimensions made it easy to carry around, which meant I read it quicker, because it was…

THE ADVANCEMENT OF SOCIALISM

THE ADVANCEMENT OF SOCIALISM
In my nation there is a movement toward socialism in all levels of government. Many Christians have begun to react with fear and anger over this trend that seems to threaten the freedoms they have been given in the constitution of the United States. The reactions of both Christians and non-Christians opposing these changes in government have sometimes been a reasoned response, and at times…

I do not think it has come to any surprise to most of us that there is a whole lot of Shaking going on. Hebrews 12 talks about all that can be shaken will be shaken; so all that remains is the unshakable. As I look at unshakable possibilities, the only thing that comes to mind is Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and the unshakable, unmovable, and Glorious Kingdom of…

Advertising today is amazing. Think about it, here is a group of smart people hired and paid big money to make you want to buy this or that product. These are people that know how to work that salesman charm and they know what makes you tick. So I follow advertising trends with interest. Want to know where Americans are at today? Watch the commercials. Which brings me to the meat of this post.
What do you deserve today? I am sure you have seen the commercials, you deserve a BMW, you…

Why are we losing the battle for Jesus in America today? At whom do we point the finger for our failure to reach the masses here in this blighted country? I am not sure that we can really blame any one person but I think I have an idea of what is going on.
I call it the Taming of Jesus.
When we go to our local church we hear sweet stories about the God that will protect us and keep us from evil. How this Master will keep us safe and protected in harbors till our time to return…

Love
What an incredible feeling. The feeling that nothing else in the world really matters. We want to spend all our time with the one that we love. Holding hands, talking about everything under the sun, or again, being silent together sharing the most beautiful sunset in the world. All that matters is that we are together. Sharing our lives. Being. There are some that say that the first love is the only true love that we will have. Then again, maybe not. At least not in my life…

I am an Ugly Duckling Christian.
For the un-initiated let me explain. When God is doing serious work in our lives there may come a time when we can no longer present a facade, a mask to those around us. What we are is what you get. If we are having a bad day it shows, if we are happy we can not but help to share it with all those around us, and when we are emotional then the tears are there, ready to flow, for happy or sorrow. An Ugly Duckling Christian is not about apperances or looks, he…

1Corithians9:12 Do you not know that they which minister about Holy things live of the temple and they which wait at the altar are partakers of the alter?
Hear people you can not drink the cup in good and the cup in evil you can not be partaker at the table of God and serve at the table of the devil be wise to judge what I say the cup of good offer blessings and is not the carnal communion of bread and wine but of the Rock . God is the Rock, His Words are bread to the soul and the wine… Continue

Acts3:22 For Moses truely said unto the fathers "A prophet shall your God raise up unto you of your brethren like me. Shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you? And it shall come to pass that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people" All the prophets from Samuel and those those that follow after as many as have spoken have likewise foretold of these days you are the children of the prophets and of the Covenant which God made… Continue

Why do you sit and wait on the return of Jesus Christ? Is there a special reason? What verse in the bible speaks of Jesus Christ saying sit on your hands and wait on his return? Did not Jesus Christ say that he must leave so that the Holy Ghost of His Father may come? Did not Jesus Christ say learn what he taught of his Father? Aren't we suppose to seek the truth within scripture discerning, researching and testing to prove the truth? So how is it that we are just saved by grace doesn't this… Continue

Never has the US allowed or welcomed satan onto our homeland as we did this September 25th .,2009 by allowing the muslims to gather in mass in Washington D.C. to pray for the soul of the USA, thereby placing a curse on our land.
The Lord has said that the hedge of protection around this nation never has been built up because of our sin of not declaring our Stand ON Jesus Christ as a nation.
We have been conceding to satan’s powers from the foundational beginning of this…

Banks begins the Preface with “This is not a technical book, nor a popular one either.” By technical, he is referring to the graduate school/seminary and up group. For the most part, this book is written at a level a believing church leader without such training can find it useful. In my opinion, though, the preface, introduction, Chapter 1, many of the footnotes, and parts of the appendix lean toward theological use alone; if you are not such a person, there is much to gain from Chapters 2…

Deut 6:10-25
10 When God, your God, ushers you into the land he promised through your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you, you're going to walk into large, bustling cities you didn't build,
11 well-furnished houses you didn't buy, come upon wells you didn't dig, vineyards and olive orchards you didn't plant. When you take it all in and settle down, pleased and content,
12 make sure you don't forget how you got… Continue
