Times of prayer 23

Greetings once more in the wonderful name of our Lord and king Jesus Christ. This is your friend and praying partner Ps Solomon. I trust you are blessed and also being a blessing. Remember we are the salt and light of this world and we are called to preserve mankind with acts of righteousness. Very much in the news recently has been the bombings and the death of so many innocent people. In some of the instances family members and friends are still missing. We pray… Continue

SPIRITUALITY - NAKED BEFORE THE CHRIST CHILD

For a number of years now, the Lord has been exposing Gary’s and my true heart regarding how we celebrate Christ’s birth. Each year, it seems He reveals more and more of our activities which really have little significance to the true purpose of Christ. We’ve relinquished the desire to spend more than we should or fret over finding the perfect gift. We’ve recognized that no one on our gift list truly needs more. We’ve given up the frenzied attempts to decorate every corner of our home, bake… Continue

The Agony and The Ecstacy

The Agony and The Ecstacy: This 1961 best-seller by Irvine Stone, later made into a famous Hollywood movie, is the story of Michaelangelo. I love the title, and I have used it hear because I think that it explains the dilemma and the dissonance that many of us within house church movements live with when it comes to effective missions. We all know that real outward movement of the gospel can only come as the Holy Spirit reveals and then draws people to Christ. But we also know that God has… Continue

The Dominion of Opinion

Make it your aim to be one in the Spirit, and you will be bound together in peace. There is one Body and one Spirit, just as it was to one hope you were called. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is the one over all, the one working through all and the one living in all. (Eph. 4:2-6 Phillips)

There is an interesting event that has been going on in my life recently. I have been reading a book by G.H. Lang about the life of Anthony Norris… Continue

mostly about "Christianese"

Since I began on simplechurch something over a year ago I’ve had opportunity to discuss spiritual and biblical things with a number of people, here and in groups I’ve been invited to join by members or former members. This has been both enjoyable and challenging for me, to encounter ideas I have known about. There has also been exposure to terminology that has been new to me.

Or maybe it’s not that it’s new but that the forum format causes me to think on what is being said, when… Continue

Prayer is indeed an inexhaustible subject because we serve and inexhaustible God. It is that time of the year once more when people will be on holiday for the summer. I trust that those of you writing exams have excelled showing off the glory of the Lord. Remember you just can’t pray and write exams but you need to study also.… Continue

The Nature of JESUS - DNA of the ecclesia

Ideally I’m looking for a community that expresses the Name, the Glory, the Voice, and the Nature of JESUS of Nazareth. The only Christ/Messiah and GODMAN. The SON who was sent by the Father and empowered by the Holy Spirit. YHWH the Trinitarian godhead that is expressed in this human, named JESUS. A community that has HIM Supreme and central. As a result a DNA emerges in the follower and group, agape love that only comes from JESUS. No human offices…

What do you mean, "IT ain't workin' no more?"

You know, I just don't often see "IT" happening in our churches or in Christian's lives much any more.

You know... "IT".... The fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,

Gentleness, Self-control.

Oh, I see "IT" in spurts. When someone is being watched or is at church for an hour or so. But, put a little pressure on them or let LIFE press them and then???????????

I think this is where this little… Continue

Greetings loved ones, I want to declare over you today, grace, peace and joy to you and your family. We have been reading and praying about Mary’s response to the call of God. One of the things that the angel does mention is that Elizabeth her cousin who is barren will also be blessed with a child. How do we move from a place of barrenness to a place of blessing

Matt 10:41-42 Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's… Continue

Worship: After G-d's Own Heart

Acts 2:25-28, 30 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance… …Therefore being a prophet, and knowing… Continue

building upon the rock of ages , the elementary teachings of christ

To begin this project see Hebrews chapter 6. You will find the elementary teachings of Jesus listed, repentance, faith upon God, baptisms, laying on of hands, the ressurection of the dead ,and eternal judgement. Paul comments that they should have moved beyound theses and into maturity. If today these are not understood then this would explain much also of the condition of the churches that many of us have fled i challenge you all to start preparing the way as John the baptist preached. Start… Continue

Dreams

Okay so G-d does speak to us in different ways. The one night He awoke me and spoke to my spirit that He wants to develop character in me to go with the gifts of the spirit He has given. Then, not many nights later, I had a dream about my daughter's friend. He is into practices that are definitely sinful and refuses to repent. I saw him standing in the dream with a larger person beside him, dressed in the same manner as he was. (Very goth). I then saw this other being sitting on the side of my… Continue

The Lord bless you. Welcome once more to our time of praying together. The days of festivities are soon going to be upon us during which you and I are still called to be vigilant, watchful and prayerful.

We are new covenant priests and we are all carriers of the presence of God with a view to honour the Lord all the time. It is rather sad at times when we see that people still just want to attend fellowship on Good Friday or just for Christmas… Continue

A Missionary or An Imposter

It was the famous Baptist preacher from London's Metropolitan Tabernacle, Charles H. Spurgeon who once said, "Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter." As we try to share some of the amazing stories of people that we have met and situations that we have heard about over the past six weeks of travel, you will see why I provide this heading to this week's House2House newsletter.

If I had to try to detail the key issue that I think the Lord was impressing on Felicity and I… Continue

When Good is called evil and evil is called Good...

Today I read some news headlines - again. Ooops.

News Headline, Nov. 2009 - John Holdren, white house science czar under president Obama, has echoed Brown's call for global government by advocating the United States should surrender sovereignty to a "Planetary Regime" armed with sufficient military power to enforce population limits...

News Headline, Nov. 2009 - A pro-family organization is accusing President Obama's Office of Safe… Continue

What Would Jesus Do?

This has become such a catch phrase with many people today that it truly has no meaning. It seems to me that most who use this phrase mean it to show that they are doing what they think Jesus would do in a given situation.

I would like to take a look at Jesus for a moment and look at some of the things that he did when he walked the earth. Then I would ask you to simply consider, are you really like him at all?

At twelve years old he had such a grasp of what he had been… Continue

God bless loved ones and I pray that you are not moved by the global economic slump. I trust that you are being wise and sowing even when you have in abundance that when things get tougher you are able to stand. God’s desire is for you to have wealth, honour , good health, long life and strength. He wants you to enjoy life. But all these things will be hidden from you if you don’t know the word of God. You may have read many books or magazines but after a while you… Continue

HEALTH - THE CURATIVE BLESSINGS OF COMFREY

Our daughter, Julie has painfully dry and cracked hands in the winter. She has tried nearly every traditional product on the market to no avail. This isn’t surprising since most cosmetics, including lotions, contain harsh and harmful chemicals. In fact, one of their main ingredients is petroleum. Yes, skin requires lubrication. However, engine oil is not the choice for skin! Instead of helping, petroleum clogs the pores and keeps moisture out.

In the process of researching how I… Continue

The "Corporate" Image of Church: A High Powered Enterprise

Most contemporary churches today are becoming more and more like high-powered business enterprises. Business and corporate styles are being applied to church leadership, structures and strategies. These make-overs has given the church a "corporate" image, where a lot of pragmatism and utilitarianism dominate its landscape. Such image somehow nurtures a consumer-driven spirituality and reinforces the ethos of individualism, materialism and patronism (A "patron" is one who poses as the father… Continue
