We have no claim to truth...

When a witness testifies, they testify of the things that they saw or know about something...truthfully.  It is true that witnesses can fabricate their testimony but in that case it would be false testimony and therefore they would be considered a false witness.

The reality for the believer today is that we have been given…

Water Baptism and Salvation

Baptism in scripture is associated with salvation.  ‘He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” (Mark 16:16)  What does it mean to be saved or why do we need salvation?  Salvation relates not to our sins or the forgiveness of our sins, or is not something we receive in heaven when we die (we do not need salvation in heaven), No! The need for salvation is related to the world-system into which we are born.  The domain known in…

Seeing A Simple Church Dream Come True

I am seeing a dream come true.  It is so exciting.

For 40 years, I've dreamed that a church meeting could operate without the programming, control, and/or direction of a human leader.  I've searched the country looking for such a church but couldn't find one.

I've also devoured church history looking for one.  I found two examples there.  Paul of Tarsus wrote in the New Testament that when Christians meet together that each one should participate in the…

Tough Love...

We’ve all heard the phrase “tough love”, maybe even experienced it in our adolescence as we clumsily navigated through some rebellious patch of our life growing up. Hopefully you are not still stuck there. It can be painful both as a parent and a recipient of tough love. I however, have been experiencing tough love of a different nature lately and this morning took a moment to meditate on it. What I’m dealing… Continue

Is it the hand or the Glove?

This is another take on the the hand and glove example blog.

Does it seem like the glove has come to life?

You might have to read my blog on the glove, to understand this but let's give it a chance.

If we as Christians are to be dead to ourselves, and alive to Christ, then why are we trying to be alive when we are a shell for the hand, that is inside us? The glove moves only when the hand inside him moves. The glove only makes signals or motions when the hand signals or… Continue

The Undying Flame

I recently re-read the book by T. Austin-Sparks called "The Battle

for Life". I had been seeing that we are all in a battle to retain our

(spiritual) possessions, we are all facing onslaughts of various kinds in these

days. We really need to hold fast that which we have. I was led to

get this book down off the shelf and am overpowered by the depth and

strength of it.

Just before this quote, he had been talking about… Continue

The Touch that Transforms...

I stopped by my Grand Mother’s house today to pick up some flowers she wanted us to have. Granny Hobbs is 91 now and for as long as I can remember she has given everything away. My daughter asked me, “Why is she giving us that stuff?” Well she also included a case of Yoohoo, Sunny D and cookies. I told my daughter, “Granny Hobbs came into this world with nothing and she will leave with nothing”, and she will… Continue

What is the Truth

I sometimes feel so overwhelmed, trying to sort out the true eternal gems from everybody's 'personal truth' as I go about my life here in Spokane. We all seem so certain that what we have is 'the Truth' no matter how it differs from 'the Truth' of the next person.

So...I went to the Gold Standard of all comparison of truth, those Ancient Books of All Wisdom (The Original Written Word of God). That document has been around so long, and survived so many intelligent challenges, that it… Continue

Simple Fallacies of Universal Salvation #1

The simplest believer in Jesus can find and explain the fallacies of erroneous doctrines if they use some simple principles.

1. If you know the Lord, HIS spirit will lead you. But watch that it is the same spirit that led you to Christ.

2. The scriptures were written by men inspired by HIS spirit. When you read them, HE will speak out of them.

3. HIS sheep hear his voice. You will know when it is HIM.

4. HIS spirit and HIS word will agree and will be… Continue

Agree with One Another; Live in Peace!

Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. (2Co 13:11 ESV)

I've found myself in a place these past few years were I can't find any peace within the walls of church. It seems that all the churches I've attended have a social structure that I find it difficult to conform to.

I wasn't always at odds with this way of Christian life. When I got saved I was in… Continue

Walk By The Spirit

How can you know if you're being led by the Spirit or the flesh? Very simple: Look at your behavior. If you respond to a given situation by exercising love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, you are following the Spirit's lead (Galatians 5:22, 23). If your reactions and responses reflect the deeds of the flesh listed in Galatians 5:19-21, you are following the flesh.

What do you do when you discover you are not walking by the…

Recieve The Right Spirit

In assessing counterfeits to Christianity, no criterion is more important than the Person of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote: "I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily… Continue

Pennies, Paper Wads, & Shopping Carts

Well, I don’t know about you, but the more I learn about God, the more I realize I don’t know. It’s like studying ‘space’ or the ‘ocean.’ You can study about the stars and the solar system, but if you were to visit it, you would soon realize you really didn’t know anything at all. The same is true with the ocean.

The more ‘Spiritual’ I desire to be, the simpler I become. The more I try to understand the Father’s heart and ways the more ‘in small things’ He reveals himself. We want to… Continue

One Step at a Time

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

“How do you eat an elephant?” “One bite at a time,” the answer goes. This question and answer is often used when discussing an overwhelming challenge that looms larger than life in front of another. It is a reminder not to focus on the totality of the challenge, but instead to conquer it one step at a time.

In life, we face many challenges that are so much bigger than we are. Circumstances that seem insurmountable bring to… Continue

LEARNING TO WALK AND GROW IN THE SPIRIT AND GUARDING THE SOUL.

LEARNING TO WALK AND GROW IN THE SPIRIT AND GUARDING THE SOUL.

AS a body member I have learned that we must be cautious and not insist that what we speak is the Word of God, but it must be tested.

One day in 1980 after the service was over where the fellowship had been worshiping and singing spiritual psalms & songs, prophesying, and the elders were giving personal words to the body, and I too thought the Spirit was giving the direction, the LORD said to me that… Continue

The Value of Understanding

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to visit the Kitale Museum in Kitale, Kenya. The Kitale Museum has exhibits that teach about the cultural heritage and natural eco-system of this region of Kenya. The true blessing of this visit to the museum came from the instruction of my tour guide, Andrew. Andrew allowed me not just to see the exhibits and learn, but he provided me with understanding as well.

For example as we toured… Continue

Are You Ready to Celebrate PENTECOST?

Pentecost for me is just as important as 1) Celebrating the BIRTH of Christ, 2) The Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension. Without Pentecost, the entire plan of the New Covenant would not have been "applied" to God's people. You can imagine then my grief over the years when I realized that many of the Churches in America didn't even observe the day. We will celebrate Memorial Day (the day before), but not Pentecost:What's wrong with this picture?

This year Pentecost falls… Continue

Have You Read THIS Book?

Neil Carter won another endorsement for his best seller, "Christ In Y"All". I have to say that I'm not surprised at all nor the source of the endorsement; it really is filled with a lot of Biblical wisdom. See my first post on the book, "The Only other Book You Will Ever Need".

I was talking only this week to a new friend in Christ in Brazil about… Continue

Getting Rid of Stinking Thinking

Good morning. I hope you had a great weekend.

How many of your have ever heard the term “stinking thinking?” This is a description of allowing your thoughts to become completely negative about everything. These thoughts may be inwardly focused thoughts of failure or not being quite good enough or they could be outwardly focused thoughts of criticism and judgment towards other people or circumstances.

Have you ever noticed that when you are around negative people it becomes… Continue

Demolition of the Heart...

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. [Ezekiel 36:25,26]…
