Proof of His death and resurrection

"This is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." (1 John 5:11)

Christ is never proved to be alive from the dead, nor to be Lord, by doctrinal statements. Your statement of faith may include the fact that you believe Jesus died and rose again, ascended to heaven, and is at the…

To Change or Not To Change...

For growth to happen there has to be change. So why do we resist it. We want to grow but we don’t want to change.

You want to be out of debt but don’t want to change how you spend or sacrifice what’s costing you. You want to have that body but don’t want to change your eating or exercise habits. You want to break that habit but won’t…

Holding On

This verse jumped out at me last night. In this time of increasing darkness covering the earth and rampant deceptions everywhere, it seems this is what we are to do, earnestly seeking Him and to just hold on.

Jude 20-21----But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal…

Christian baptism, what is it for ? and what shall we receive?

As the subject of who should baptize came up I was reminded of what baptism is for. In Acts 2:38 Peter tells the people to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So baptism is a sign of repentance and obediance , but more importantly it is the normative way in which we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit! I say normative because God poured out the Spirit on that day and those that received it were given the authority to pass it on to…

Clear Differences between Mormonism and Christianity.

The Error of Mormonism

By Tal Davis

"But they use words just like ours: gospel, savior, atonement, virgin birth. In fact, don't they also baptize by immersion, send out missionaries, and talk about the gospel? It seems that their view of salvation is just like Baptists and other evangelicals! Isn't…

what does it mean to believe in God?

Is believing in God just belief ? or is more ? First of all the greek word for believe is the root peitho which is actually faith upon God( one of the elemntary teachings Heb 6:1). Beyound that we have Abrahams example of believing God , we know he did beacuse of his actions . Thus faith alone, or belief without action, is only just talk not true faith. Jesus said many will come and say lord, lord and he will cast them out because they rejected Gods will for themselves and did not obey his…

The Voice of G-d: Discerning His Voice

There is no certain formula to hearing from G-d. He is not that simple. All that one can do is to eliminate those things standing in the way. The end result we are looking for is FAITH for it is impossible to please G-d without it.

Rom. 10:17 So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word (rhema: spoken word or revealed word) of God.

True faith does not come from presuming His specific will for you but rather from knowing that G-d spoke and knowing what He… Continue

The origin of the faith that saves.

Where Does The Faith that Justifies Originate?

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”(Rom 5:1)

I would like to consider with you the source or origin of the faith that justifies us before God. Our salvation as believers in Jesus Christ is by grace, few who would read this would deny this truth. Yet, as I have asked this question to many among the body of Christ there are two very different understandings… Continue

Simple Fallacies of Universal Salvation #1

The simplest believer in Jesus can find and explain the fallacies of erroneous doctrines if they use some simple principles.

1. If you know the Lord, HIS spirit will lead you. But watch that it is the same spirit that led you to Christ.

2. The scriptures were written by men inspired by HIS spirit. When you read them, HE will speak out of them.

3. HIS sheep hear his voice. You will know when it is HIM.

4. HIS spirit and HIS word will agree and will be… Continue

Words from The Fire

A New Book about "Hearing the Voice of God in the Ten Commandments".

Al Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, has written a book that I've been waiting for for a long, long time. In my opinion, it just may be the best book in our generation on the Ten Commandments. Imagine my great delight when I began reading and realized that Mohler was committed to seeing these famous Biblical words from the Old Testament from the perspective of the New… Continue

May God have Mercy on the ELCA

Pray for them with true compassion. By now you may have heard of the recent decisions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's regarding formal acceptance of those with a homosexual life style as Ministers in the ELCA. I hope you received this news with deep grief and not in any way gloating over one more IC that has all but removed itself from Biblical Christianity. It will help us tremendously if we resist the temptation to say as one of my beloved Black Reformed Baptist pastors said… Continue

The Process of Discipline

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

Yesterday, my youngest son and my daughter continued to have “issues” with one another, which primarily revolved around sharing and kindness. My son didn’t want my daughter in his room, so his solution was to send our friend’s 3 year old daughter to tell my wife that my daughter was being a “brat.” At the same time, I hear my daughter saying: “Please give me another chance and don’t tell mom.” Needless to say the situation was getting… Continue

A Perfect Fit

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

Any shade tree mechanic or do it yourself repair man knows the importance of having the right tool in hand. A slotted screwdriver just won’t do, when the task calls for a Phillips head. Needle nose pliers are just no substitute for a socket wrench. Without the right tools for the job, the job is likely to be done poorly or not at all.

The issue is purpose. The assorted tools in the toolbox were designed for specific purposes.… Continue

One Step at a Time

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

“How do you eat an elephant?” “One bite at a time,” the answer goes. This question and answer is often used when discussing an overwhelming challenge that looms larger than life in front of another. It is a reminder not to focus on the totality of the challenge, but instead to conquer it one step at a time.

In life, we face many challenges that are so much bigger than we are. Circumstances that seem insurmountable bring to… Continue

The Endorsement of Your Life

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

Over the weekend, the most famous pitchman in America passed away. Billy Mays was the king of infomercials, having made a name for himself by passionately extolling the virtues of numerous household products. Before any of us knew Billy’s name we knew him by the products he represented. We would often refer to him as the Oxi-Clean guy or the Mighty Putty guy. We knew Billy, not for who he was, but instead what he represented. Billy knew… Continue

Get Your Praise On

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

This morning as my wife and I were out for our morning walk, we found ourselves talking about praise. Praise is such a critical component in our relationship to God, because it acknowledges who He is. For example:

Revelation 4:8 (NASB)

And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, is THE LORD GOD,…

The Value of Understanding

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to visit the Kitale Museum in Kitale, Kenya. The Kitale Museum has exhibits that teach about the cultural heritage and natural eco-system of this region of Kenya. The true blessing of this visit to the museum came from the instruction of my tour guide, Andrew. Andrew allowed me not just to see the exhibits and learn, but he provided me with understanding as well.

For example as we toured… Continue

In Hot Pursuit

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

In our home we have 2 cats, “Max and Smokey” and a German Shepherd named “Seth.” One of the daily happenings in our house revolves around these 3 animals. At least once every day we will observe Seth chasing one of the two cats around the house. Seth pursues them from room to room until he finally gets them cornered. Once he has them cornered he sniffs, licks and playfully nips at them, but truly he isn’t sure why he chased them in the… Continue

Get Out of the Penalty Box

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend.

The past two evenings I watched the first two games of the Stanley Cup finals. One of the unique features of ice hockey is the power play. A power play occurs when the member of one team commits a penalty. When a penalty is committed, the officials levy a 2 minute or 5 minute penalty against the offending team. During this time, the penalized team is required to play with fewer players on the ice than their opponent.

During the power… Continue
