Test Time...

Test Time...

Anytime someone mentions the word test in a biblical context I immediately think of the years I was a single mother, the time I almost yelled at my husband, reacted to someone's gossip, or wanted to swear very badly! But test to me now has a different buzz to it.

We are tested to test. I know it's poor alliteration but I'm… Continue

God in Search for Men

`I was given a book for my birthday, “God in Search for Men” by by Abraham Joshua Heschel

The opening paragraph of the book grabbed my attention

“When faith is completely replaced by creed, worship by discipline, love by habit; when crisis of today is ignored because of the splendour of the past; when faith becomes an heirloom rather than a living fountain; when religion speaks only in the name of authority rather than with the voice of compassion - its message becomes… Continue

What is the Truth

I sometimes feel so overwhelmed, trying to sort out the true eternal gems from everybody's 'personal truth' as I go about my life here in Spokane. We all seem so certain that what we have is 'the Truth' no matter how it differs from 'the Truth' of the next person.

So...I went to the Gold Standard of all comparison of truth, those Ancient Books of All Wisdom (The Original Written Word of God). That document has been around so long, and survived so many intelligent challenges, that it… Continue

Simple Fallacies of Universal Salvation #1

The simplest believer in Jesus can find and explain the fallacies of erroneous doctrines if they use some simple principles.

1. If you know the Lord, HIS spirit will lead you. But watch that it is the same spirit that led you to Christ.

2. The scriptures were written by men inspired by HIS spirit. When you read them, HE will speak out of them.

3. HIS sheep hear his voice. You will know when it is HIM.

4. HIS spirit and HIS word will agree and will be… Continue

Ponder on This!

"Permissiveness is the new grace doctrine. 'Don't condemn the sinner.'

We rebuke for rebuking. What an oxymoron!

In fear of legalism we have torn down the fences of restraint. Now we are paying for it with the marriages of our offspring."

Exalting His Word (1)

Psalm 119:126-128 KJV

"It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law.

127) Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above

fine gold.

128) Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be

right; and I hate every false way."

*** " You have exalted above all else Your name and Your word,

and You have magnified Your word above all Your name."

(Psalm… Continue

The Danger of Orthodoxy to Our Unity in Christ

I am thinking of each of you this Sunday afternoon and mulling over in my spirit how I can introduce a subject that I've noticed a number commenting and posting on since I first joined the SimpleChurch community of faith. It has to do with all those man-made divisions out there that tend to keep us from recognizing our fellow believers in whatever religious club they happen to be in at the time. I want to be an advocate for peace and joy as well as a whole lot of other things that are our's in… Continue

REPENTANCE+IHS=Conversion

Jesus answered and said unto them, "you do err not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are as the angels of God in Heaven. As to touching the resurrection of the dead have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God saying that He is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?(Exodus6:3) God is not the God of the dead but of the living. Woe unto hypocrites for you are like unto whit… Continue

Truth

John12:49 For I have not spoken of Myself but of My Father who has sent Me. He gave Me a Commandment of what I should say and what I should speak.

Light and the Pursuit of Truth

[This article is reproduced here from the original on my blog.]

While reading1 "Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood" by George MacDonald, I was struck by his description of seeking the truth as living in the light—the sunlight—in the twenty-fourth chapter, "Failure." MacDonald can always be found embedding nuggets of nonfiction-like… Continue

Are Evangelical Christians A More Imminent Danger To America Than Muslim Extremists?

In Job 8:3 the question is posed, “Does the Almighty pervert (misdirect, turn from truth) justice (right; application of equity)? In Genesis 18:25 we read Abraham asking God. “…Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?” Who is Judge of all the earth? What exactly does just mean? Dictionary definitions include: what is right, due; suitable, exactly proportioned, proper, founded in truth and fact, etc.

We can find the answer to our original question posed in Job 8:3 is… Continue

Who Is Your Teacher???

Luke 6:39-40 And he spake also a parable unto them, Can the blind guide the blind? shall they not both fall into a pit? The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

In this chapter in Luke Jesus teaches that we are to love our enemies, to do good to those who do us wrong, not judge, to forgive, and be merciful, among other things. All of these things are a picture of who Jesus is. In this particular verse of scripture(above),… Continue

WHY????

It never ceases to amaze me why it is that most people never stop and ask the all important question………WHY?

Why is it that so many people so easily accept the traditions, and doctrines, of their chosen denominational structure, and fail to ask why it is so. Why is it so easy to ignore that little voice that imputes question inside of us. For example, your reading the scriptures and you run across a verse that sounds like a complete contradiction to what you heard your pastor preach… Continue

Change

There was once two brothers that had their own families, homes, and where partners in a fishing business. They were living the dream. Everything was fine until one Man changed it all. Everything they had worked so hard for, for so many years, had been diminished by one man and two words. That man’s name was Yahsuah (Jesus), and the two words were simply…FOLLOW ME. The two men were of course…Simon (Peter) and his brother Andrew. These men’s lives had been so drastically changed in an instant,… Continue

Where are they?

I know it has been a while since I have written last. The truth is, it is hard to know what to say any more. I have spent most of my walk as a “Christian” preaching and teaching many things that I now see are utterly wrong. I, like so many others out there in the church world, have lead more people away from Christ than to Him. We have done this through a dead religion, a false gospel, worthless doctrine, and a imitation Christianity. We run more people out of church than we draw in her.… Continue
