Making Disciples

Felicity and I are spending this weekend in Winnsboro, TX with Dan and Laurel Hubbell. They have two young Africans staying with them for six weeks, so that they can pour their lives into these two who in turn will live out what they are learning within the churches that they lead in Africa. Six weeks to help just two people. And that includes opening up your home, your marriage, your finances ( to help cover costs of travel from Africa and looking after two extra for meals, etc.). Numbers may not be everything, but someone was spiritual enough to count the new believers on the Day of Pentecost!

I'm not a great numbers guy. In fact, one of the reasons that there is nothing to "join" in House2House is that Felicity and I feel very clear that the Lord does not want us building something that people belong to. Now don't get me wrong! I think there is great value in belonging. We all like belonging to things, identifying with others that we are similar to. Today is the Day!

Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day! – 2 Cor 6:2 (NLT)

I know, I know, I have pulled that verse, or part of a verse anyway, right out of context. But since it says exactly what I wanted to say, I have used it anyway. If you know a better way to grab everyone’s attention, then I am open to hear it.
