An Eternity

It seems like it has been such a long time that I have been out or the institutional church. It seems like I have read all the books on home church. Frank Viola, Robert Lund, Robert Banks as well as a multitude of articles about the same. In all honesty, I feel in my heart that I've done more researching than stepping out in faith. I'm just so tired of looking. Please pray for me that the door for home church will be opened. Yours in Jesus

Comment by Jim London on September 6, 2011 at 12:41pm: Hi, Peter. Thanks for your transparency. And thanks for inviting us to identify with your quandry by praying. Here are two offerings, coming from the stranger that I am to you:

1) Consider shifting gears from looking for "home church" to seeking God -- no other books for awhile, just His word. If the hunger for that is slim, then ask Him to raise it and simply do it. And act on whatever God seems to speak about Himself.

2) Consider investing more directly/personally in people within your orbit -- a neighbour, a co-worker, someone in the local coffee shop, whatever -- and learn/see what God does with that -- being attentive to others who don't seem to have others. And stick with it.

I'm just a voice for what comes as I read your posts.

Comment by Sandy McCoy- Foust on September 6, 2011 at 4:28pm: Hi Peter, Ive been out of the IC since 2008...and not regularly involved in house church..My husband & I just moved to this area in July/2011...changing jobs & gettin settled in has been a priority..and our Lord has truly blessed us...I have a sister-in-law about an hour away that is meeting often...I look to meet there as well down the road..but until then...God is still moving.. as I know He is directing our path. My husband would also like to find a church close to us( Im praying for a Grace filled Church,not law based.)..But anyways ..all that to say this..I have to agree with Jim...to just seek the Lord...He will make the path clear..in His timing...enjoy the moment..with whoever the Lord puts in your path...and sit as His feet often..

I think the Lord is saying...stop looking...Im right here... :)..Rest IN me...It will all become clear and fall into place...at just the right time...

What we focus on becomes bigger.

Still waiting for some christians to hunger for more than just a dead pew. It's hard sometimes for sure but we are holding out hope for some kind of fellowship. Funny how we are all spread all over the USA, not close enough to get together. God knows. Hang in there.
