The servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26

One of the most powerful prayers we can pray on behalf of another is the request: "Father, grant ______ repentance." It is an acknowledgment that God is sovereign; a bowing of the knee to His purpose and plan, not our own.

Jesus gave us this as His example: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:32

Even in this purpose of Christ, He knew that Father's draw was of primary importance:

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:65

Who can respond to the directive repent and believe, without the Father first move?

Even moreso, may we not be afraid to pray this for ourselves, that we be found worthy of His Kingdom, full of fruit and righteous acts. May it be said of His people that they walked as Christ walked: without strife, gentle, apt to teach, patient, in meekness.

Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. Matthew 12: 18-21
